Modern Seclusion Away From The Modern Life

5 of 5
As you enter the driveway, you will see it descend into the thick woods, already giving you a sense of seclusion. About a quarter mile down, the scenery opens up to a cozy wood house with a backdrop of a very wide Connecticut River along with an expansive view of thousands of trees nestled on a large hill, not a neighbor in site. At this point, everyone is "in-ah" of the view while at the same time questioning the accuracy of the car's GPS. The entrance of the house is bright and open, a dining room to your left and a living room to your right with three different entries to the kitchen in the back, an open concept floor plan. Although you'll find that the kitchen is beautiful, you'll find yourself standing in front of the sliding glass doors (leading out onto a massive deck), again, taking in the spectacular view. There are 4 cozy bedrooms, each lending a view of a wide backyard including some views of the river. Both bathrooms are spacious with good water pressure. Every room in the house is clean and nothing feels damp and dreary. In addition to the bedrooms downstairs, there is a quiet room to watch TV, read, or play games. There is plenty of storage for your bikes and hiking hear. There are about a hundred steps leading down to the shore of the river where you will find chairs, a fire pit, some small rafts and boats to take out, which we were brave enough to take out on a rainy day. Not being experienced in rowing a boat, we were thankful that the river current pushes into shore. We had a party of six friends, there was more than enough room in the entire house for everyone to stretch out and relax. Our goal was to get away from the hustle and bustle of NYC and this delightful stay at the house had offered more than what we expected or asked for in a peaceful, comforting setting. During our first day, after getting settled in, Dean met up with us down by the river to see if there was anything we needed. He showed us how to use the amenities, .i.e., the entertainment system (indoors and out), fire pit on the deck, washer & dryer. The owner is very pleasant and hospitable and it's evident that he has put in a lot of thought and hard work into creating a perfect secluded getaway. Within the first two hours my friends and I had already decided to make this house an annual fall retreat.

Home Away from Home is an understatement!!!!

5 of 5
Well, our long anticipated trip to Mystic, CT was well worth the wait. And we owe 90% of it to this beautiful house and to Sue! I had arranged a 5 day weekend with friends that I hadn’t seen in over a year: myself and 4 couples (total of 9). Sue was amazing throughout the entire year with communication via email back and forth. Always prompt and very gracious! We also lucked out during the last weekend in September to have the most perfect weather! From the minute we arrived, we were all in “awe”! Sue’s cleverly designed home was more than perfect. Every little detail made it wonderful, from the cleverly framed wi-fi password (looked like normal décor) to the shampoos in the shower, and the detergent in the laundry room! The downstairs bath was one of everyone’s favorite. Even the tile in the loft - designed in a beautiful compass - made this house so much more beautiful! We spent every leisurely morning out on the gorgeous covered porch and every night at the huge, stone fire-pit in the backyard. And lets not forget about the wonderful beds, linens, blankets and comfy pillows. There were cards, board games and even a wine chiller on the back porch. Nothing was overlooked! All in all it was trip for long time friends to catch up and be totally at home!!! PS – for those of you who have never done this, I highly recommend a 2-hour sunset cruise on the old schooner. They served fruit, cheese and crackers and we could bring our own wine. The views are like nothing else and you will never catch a more beautiful sun-set! www.ArgiaMystic.com

Everything you need and more!

5 of 5
My husband and I travelled from New York to Port Chester which took about 50 minutes. Enterprise who are based nearby picked us up and then we drove about 5 minutes to the property so it was really easy. Our inlaws came over from England too so there the four of us for three nights. The house was lovely, comfortable and a great size. It had all the appliances that you need as well as a big table outside in the garden. It was well decorated with good storage and comfy beds. It was great base to explore the area and Henri, our host was really helpful and as he only lived next door he popped over to help us a couple of times. It was perfectly comfortable for four with a big settee and TV for chilling out in the evenings. We would definitely stay again.
