60th Birthday Surprise

5 of 5
In planning a surprise birthday getaway for my husband, I fortunately stumbled across the Kozy Cottage. As we drove through the gates and pulled up to the house, I knew I had made the right decision. The moment we walked up the steps onto the deck and took in the views, I could hardly contain my delight. For the first time in our marriage, my husband was speechless! He's an avid bass fishing adict, so when he hooked a 5lb large mouth bass, I think he was in heaven for a bit. My slice of heaven was reading on the dock in the most comfortable couch you could imagine with a glass of Chianti! That's just a little something about the outside of the Kozy Cottage. The inside was simply charming and sooo comfy. The attention to detail in the house was unbelievable. Everywhere you looked was planned out with much thought and consideration. The time we spent there was totally stressfree and very romantic. We're looking forward to visiting the Kozy Cottage again and again. Thanks again, Richard, for sharing your home with us. Angela and Glenn P.S. Did I mention the hot tub in the moonlight? Something not to be missed!

Fantastic Weekend!

5 of 5
We had an awesome time at Cynthia's lake house. Our family had a great time, and it was perfect for everyone, including our sweet pup. There was enough space for everyone to comfortably sit, work, play, cook, etc. or easily find a quiet space to nap or read a book. The backyard was the perfect size-enough space for us to play wiffle ball and bocce and a good proximity to the lake. The grounds are really really well maintained by Joe, the caretaker, and the housekeeping also did a great job prior to arrival. The kitchen was a dream to cook in; there was ample counter space to prep & the indoor grill was easy to operate. Cynthia also provides a lot of the necessary items in the kitchen (e.g., trash bags, paper towels, salt, pepper, etc.) & the same All-Clad pots I use at home! The bedrooms were all great in size, master bedroom was super pretty & the bed & pillows were so comfortable too. Linens were also obviously high end. Although we didn't need it, I couldn't tell / didn't notice, besides the master bedroom, if there was air conditioning in the other bedrooms. There are so many neat little treasures and finds all around the house. Our family had a great time, and my dog had the time of his life running around the yard (we're from NYC, so not much green space for him). The lake was gorgeous as well. Even though it was too cold for us to swim in, we could tell it's clear and nice and we'd definitely have no qualms swimming in it. We also loved that the house was close to NYC. While on the property, you felt like you were pretty isolated, but the house is actually located close to the highway and only a 5 minute drive to the nearest Stop n Shop or Shop Rite. Only a few very MINOR things came up. The indoor griddle. It looked like it had not been scrubbed for months so there was a lot of caked on gunk and wasn't usable until we took it upon ourselves to scrub it. It wasn't a small task, but so worth it to clean it to cook breakfast for big groups. We also didn't use the outdoor grill because it wasn't like a standard Weber; if I remember correctly, I think it was built with bricks and some grates...something I'm not accustomed to cooking on. Not a big deal because the indoor grill was a fine alternative. The firepit area is on the other side of the property, and sitting around a fire presented difficulties as there were no chairs easily movable to this part of the property. Again, all MINOR points to an OUTSTANDING stay! Thanks Cynthia!

Idyllic New England

5 of 5
We stayed for a week in this beautiful house just at the peak of the Fall foliage. We traveled all the way from Ireland with our two young children and I rarely recall leaving a place with such a heavy heart. The house is beautifully situated in leafy, atmospheric Bantam Lake. The town of Bantam is nearby, small but very pleasant. I spent many hours in the cafe there watching life go by. Litchfield is some 4 or 5 miles away and it is classic postcard New England. We went walking in the nearby woods every day and our kids got to take in lungfuls of the purest air. The house was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. The swing chair in the back garden was a particular favourite of mine. Crissie lives next door and was the perfect host. Unimposing yet polite and friendly and even let our kids play in their little playground. We are desperate to come back to this idyllic corner of Connecticut, and next time for much longer. Thank you Crissie sincerely for your wonderful house.
