Exactly what we were looking for!

5 of 5
The only bad part of our stay was that we had to leave! My wife and I spent the weekend for our 5th anniversary and this place was exactly what we were looking for. The pictures are pretty but they do not to any justice to how well this property is maintained. It is completely remodeled and has everything you could ever need to enjoy your stay on a very beautiful lake. The weather was perfect and the house had every amenity we needed. The area is nice as well; the wife and I found a great little Mexican place in the "downtown area" as well as a breakfast place. Both were small, quaint, and had great food. On the night we cooked in, the kitchen had everything and more than we needed. The dock, deck, and outside area are perfectly maintained and in great shape. We had no issues bringing our boat, as the dock has good depth and is in a great location. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone, and we will certainly look to make this an every year destination.

A Wonderful Week

5 of 5
The home was adorable and quite comfortable. All of the ammenities you need were made available. We were within walking distance to most everything in the area. My family had a great week and we would definitley return again. James and Wendy were so accomodating and gracious as well. Overall a wonderful experience.

Perfect marsh hideaway minutes from town!

5 of 5
Loved my time in the Zen Cottage. Beautiful sunrise and sunset views on the deck of the marsh to enjoy breakfast and dinner by. Comfortable beds, excellent for a great nights rest after having an active day of hiking the nearby trails in Branford. The kitchen is nicely stocked with everything you need to make a nice dinner. Luckily for me the osprey next just off in the marsh was home to a family of four, with two young ones ready to fledge in September. I was also greeted by a very friendly cat who ate breakfast and dinner with me on the back deck a number of times during my stay. I could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay for a vacation! I hope to return in the future! Having lived in New Haven for a number of years, the Branford area is a perfect retreat. Close enough to hop over to the New Haven green for any of the free summer concerts and a nice dinner. Visitors to the area I also recommend heading over to the Stony Creek section of Branford. You can take a nice walk along the Trolley Trail to see the Thimble Islands in the distance, fiddler crabs, egrets and osprey. In the small town of Stony Creek you can grab breakfast, lunch or dinner and sit outside and gaze at the boats coming in from the Thimbles. Tours of the Thimbles leave frequently every hour.
