My girlfriends and I spent a week in August at this lovely home. It was perfect for us...neat, clean and well appointed. The beds were very comfortable, and the cool breeze blowing in from the ocean meant we could have the windows open and still be very comfortable. Didn't need the air conditioners at all. :-) Being fresh air freaks, this was decidedly appealing. The open space of the first floor meant we could easily interact even if not all participating in the same activity. I might be reading next to the window in one of the great antique chairs in the living room, while others were at the table putting together a puzzle, and another was surfing the web on the couch, but we could all enjoy the space together and feel connected. Two people could shower at the same time without a noticeable drop in water pressure. And we never ran out of hot water. The kitchen was fully stocked making cooking as good as at home. We ate dinner on the deck several times. The grill was great for cooking outdoors. It is a gas grill...which I considered a plus since we didn't have to mess with charcoal. Others might disagree, but it was so much easier to deal with. :-) It is nicely located for good access to other attractions, if like us, you don't spend the entire time on the beach. It was an easy jaunt to Mystic Seaport--a little over an hour, traffic permitting And we made it to see the Nautalis as well as to the Weir home. Dinosaur State Park was pretty cool too---focus is mainly for children, but seeing actual dinosaur tracks was amazing. Overall, we had a great stay. It was very nice and I would definitely stay again. Cheryl was great when it came to setting up our reservation, communicating about what was available and checking in to make sure we were happy.

The Whales Tale has it all! What a beautiful comfortable home. My friends and I really enjoyed our stay cation and look forward to staying again. It was a perfect relaxing home with room to move around and we all love your big beautiful kitchen. The local farmers market on Sunday and the cooked lobsters were a big hit thanks for letting us know about them. Between the beach and your wonderful upstairs porch room with the views of the water. We finished reading several books so we added them to your library. Nina NYC

Great Beach Access, Comfortable Home, and Beautiful Walkable Community

                                5 of 5
Just finished a great weekend at this lovely home in Milford! Our group of friends, 3 couples, 2 singles and our baby stayed for the weekend and had an amazing time. The kitchen had ample supplies (glasses, paper towels, cooking oil, etc) and the living room and dining area were cozy. We felt at home immediately. My communications with the owner and her family before and after the stay were kind. They went out of their way to make sure everything was convenient for us. They were very flexible and obviously cared that we had a good time. There was more than enough sleeping place: the 3 couples each had a bedroom, there was space for our daughter's travel crib in ours. One single slept on the very comfortable double air mattress in the laundry room which had a door that closed and the other single on the pull-out in the den area which is separated from the common area with a curtain. There is a futon in the common area as well. The best part was probably the beach. Just 20 steps from the house it is sandy and great for swimming. Despite cloudy weather we swam all 3 days we were there. You can walk the beach down to the public beach and pier. It is easy to go back and forth from the house to the ocean and there's an outdoor shower for rinsing. It is also an extremely walkable destination. We only had one car in our group, so we drove and then ferried the others from the nearby train station as they arrived on MetroNorth. Once at the house we were just a 5-10 minute walk from the Lazy Lobster with delicious lobster rolls, the local creamery with great ice cream as well as a deli/market and a liquor store. Hypothetically you could arrive by car and then never need your car again. You can also walk down to the public beach which has a boardwalk through some wildlife preserve areas where you can view some large bird-life. Members of our group took some long runs through Milford which they really enjoyed. There's also a place to rent kayaks, bikes and scooters within a short walk. We grilled and ate at the outside table one night and made pasta and ate at the large dining room table on the other. There's a huge TV which we didn't use as there's enough to do. It was more than we expected. A very convenient beach weekend from NYC in a comfortable home and a great family to do business with.
