Wonderful cottage right on the largest of the three bays on Highland Lake. The cottage was neat and clean, had everything we needed, and the kitchen was well equipped. Beds were very comfortable, Owner stopped by early in our stay to let us know he was prepared to respond to anything we needed. It has a great dock for boating. The owner provides a canoe, and we brought two kayaks. We came for a week of fishing and relaxing, and in addition to fishing Highland Lake (great bass lake!), the location is just 10 minutes from the Farmington River (fabulous trout stream). Plenty of good restaurants right in town (Winsted is only 5 minutes away), and a great Italian restaurant (Marino's), a pizza shop, and a spirit store are within a mile from the cottage. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy water sports and relaxing in a recreational lake area.

We stayed at the lake to celebrate my husband’s birthday. He is an avid fisherman and this location was everything we wanted. Debbie (the owner) is wonderful to deal with and super easy going and ensured that our stay was pleasant. It is a lovely cottage in a beautiful area of the state. It’s comfortable, clean and very cozy. We felt at home the moment we got there. The kitchen is wonderful and Debbie even left some water and beer in the fridge and encouraged us to help ourselves to other items in the house. You really don’t have to pack much - the cottage was stocked with all the household items we needed. Every small detail was certainly thought out to make you feel as though you're at home while you're there. Within 30 minutes of our arrival my husband was on the private dock fishing and caught 2 fish. Our good luck continued as we went on to enjoy a weekend filled with fishing and some incredible sunsets. The lake was so beautiful and at one point, the fish were literally jumping out of the water! I guess trout do that during certain times of the year. It was amazing! I highly recommend choosing this place for your getaway destination- you will not regret it! We have already recommended it to several of our friends and we will certainly be back again next year. Thanks so much Debbie for letting us use your place.

I've stayed at Camp Treusch five times over the past six years with a group of friends from business school, half from Boston, half from New York, so the location is perfect. It's an old-style New England lake house. As such, expect lots of bare wood, no drywall, and one shower (excluding the one in the guest house). We love it, but if you're looking for that beige, "constructed in 1992" feel, you may want to look elsewhere. The scenery is breathtaking. It gets harder to leave each year!
