Fantastic Weekend!

5 of 5
We had an awesome time at Cynthia's lake house. Our family had a great time, and it was perfect for everyone, including our sweet pup. There was enough space for everyone to comfortably sit, work, play, cook, etc. or easily find a quiet space to nap or read a book. The backyard was the perfect size-enough space for us to play wiffle ball and bocce and a good proximity to the lake. The grounds are really really well maintained by Joe, the caretaker, and the housekeeping also did a great job prior to arrival. The kitchen was a dream to cook in; there was ample counter space to prep & the indoor grill was easy to operate. Cynthia also provides a lot of the necessary items in the kitchen (e.g., trash bags, paper towels, salt, pepper, etc.) & the same All-Clad pots I use at home! The bedrooms were all great in size, master bedroom was super pretty & the bed & pillows were so comfortable too. Linens were also obviously high end. Although we didn't need it, I couldn't tell / didn't notice, besides the master bedroom, if there was air conditioning in the other bedrooms. There are so many neat little treasures and finds all around the house. Our family had a great time, and my dog had the time of his life running around the yard (we're from NYC, so not much green space for him). The lake was gorgeous as well. Even though it was too cold for us to swim in, we could tell it's clear and nice and we'd definitely have no qualms swimming in it. We also loved that the house was close to NYC. While on the property, you felt like you were pretty isolated, but the house is actually located close to the highway and only a 5 minute drive to the nearest Stop n Shop or Shop Rite. Only a few very MINOR things came up. The indoor griddle. It looked like it had not been scrubbed for months so there was a lot of caked on gunk and wasn't usable until we took it upon ourselves to scrub it. It wasn't a small task, but so worth it to clean it to cook breakfast for big groups. We also didn't use the outdoor grill because it wasn't like a standard Weber; if I remember correctly, I think it was built with bricks and some grates...something I'm not accustomed to cooking on. Not a big deal because the indoor grill was a fine alternative. The firepit area is on the other side of the property, and sitting around a fire presented difficulties as there were no chairs easily movable to this part of the property. Again, all MINOR points to an OUTSTANDING stay! Thanks Cynthia!

Great house, beautiful backyard, amazing location

5 of 5
This was my family's second stay here, our first stay was for my wedding week in August 2013. Both times we had a great time. The house is spacious and well appointed, the backyard is beautiful with lots of space for the kids to play and being able to walk down the street to downtown Mystic is such a perk. We will definitely be back again!

SImply a great place to be in Connecticut!

5 of 5
We went there for several days with family coming in from South America and Connecticut. And I wanted a house that was indicative of CT. We hit a home run. It was such a wonderful home. It was big enough for everyone to have their own space. But when we wanted to congregate, there were plenty of places to sit. It has a great flow to it. It does have some nice romantic features like a gas fire place in the bedroom and a sauna. But the best reason to be there is the outside landscaping that you can see from most of the house. We were there in March and it snowed. It was stunning. I see this is a popular house in the summer...and probably for good reason. But I can only comment on the winter experience. And we loved it. We had pizza in New Haven one night (a must for those visiting). And as always Pepe's was outstanding. And we cooked the other nights in the house. It was a well equipped kitchen as well. There was an issue that was resolved by the owners immediately. They are such nice people. They could not have been more attentive to our needs. I have used Homeaway several times now and this was my best experience. Not much more to say....other than we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you!
