Charming, Well Equipped House in Nice Neighborhood

5 of 5
I stayed here in March, which is definitely off season at the beach, yet I had a fine time. The house is, as others have said, attractive, really clean, and also very well equipped. That includes most of the ingredients you'd need for baking something simple, or for seasoning most anything. There's plenty of counter space in the kitchen, which makes meal preparations very easy. The TVs, located in the living room and master bedroom, have many channels to choose from. The bathrooms are not shown in the photos accompanying the listing, but both are very nice and appear to have been recently updated. There are plenty of linens. A stacked washer and dryer are conveniently located in a closet at one end of the kitchen. If you have binoculars, be sure to bring them for viewing birds, boats and islands you can see around the neighborhood. The house has lots of windows and lamps, and comfortable seating, so bring a good book or a Nook. There's an antique oak desk with a matching desk chair, a feature not often found in a vacation rental. It was very handy for a project I brought with me. Lenny's Restaurant has been a local favorite for years, and Bud's Fish Market has, too. Both are an easy walk from the house. The best pizza in Branford is at Marco's, on Route 1 near Exit 55 off 1-95. They don't deliver, but it is a pleasant place to sit and enjoy your pie, or they'll box it to go. Getting back to the house, if you have questions before or during your visit, Terri responds very quickly. In short, the house perfectly met my needs. And it would be even better during beach season!

SImply a great place to be in Connecticut!

5 of 5
We went there for several days with family coming in from South America and Connecticut. And I wanted a house that was indicative of CT. We hit a home run. It was such a wonderful home. It was big enough for everyone to have their own space. But when we wanted to congregate, there were plenty of places to sit. It has a great flow to it. It does have some nice romantic features like a gas fire place in the bedroom and a sauna. But the best reason to be there is the outside landscaping that you can see from most of the house. We were there in March and it snowed. It was stunning. I see this is a popular house in the summer...and probably for good reason. But I can only comment on the winter experience. And we loved it. We had pizza in New Haven one night (a must for those visiting). And as always Pepe's was outstanding. And we cooked the other nights in the house. It was a well equipped kitchen as well. There was an issue that was resolved by the owners immediately. They are such nice people. They could not have been more attentive to our needs. I have used Homeaway several times now and this was my best experience. Not much more to say....other than we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Fantastic beach cottage in great location!

5 of 5
My family just finished staying a week here at this cottage, and it was ideal for the 4 of us. It is just as pictured: cozy and comfortable, yet one block walk to the private beach. The neighborhood is filled with super friendly people who are happy to get to know you and chat as they walk their dogs. The sleeping arrangements worked out great, with a futon on the sleeping porch for one son, the bunk beds in a separate room for 2 other kids, and I had the master. There is only one bathroom and it is up a steep flight of stairs, but it is large and the shower is awesome. Also has super washer and dryer that we used a lot. The beach is fairly small but so private-lots of days no one was there. Swimming was good, and the shoreline is lovely. Beach towels were provided, as well as a couple of chairs. Even though the property is small, we were able to entertain a party of 10 without difficulty. There is a great grocery store nearby-5 minute drive-and we were able to stock up on everything we needed. There is a small grill in the backyard which we used constantly. And there are several good lobster/seafood/burger restaurants that are a 10 minute drive and excellent. The owner Kathy was available whenever we needed help. Even though she was super busy, when my son wanted an additional sports channel for a soccer match, she was able to get it for us on very short notice. If you don't need too much space and love old historic beach cottages with slanting floors and lots of charm, I would definitely recommend this property.
