OH MY GOODNESS!

5 of 5
Our family of 5 rented the T-Birds Lodge just last week after spending the first 4 days of our vacation in a one room motel. Upon arrival, it was incredible. Once you open the front door, you see the Sangre de Cristo mountains out the back. The house was clean and ready for us to unpack. The kids ran throughout the house calling "dibs" on their rooms. Each room was so cool, we didn't have any fights! My husband & I called "dibs" on the master suite. The master suite has a tall king-sized bed that he had to help me get in to! There is a corner fireplace (however, it wasn't turned on for use). There's a balcony off the master suite with chairs and there's a master bath with a 2 person jacuzzi tub and a glass-enclosed walk in shower. Off of the master suite is a loft with incredible views of the mountains. Back down on the main level is a great room with furniture (that if I could have fit it in the van, it wouldn't be there anymore!) that is so comfortable and views that I couldn't get enough of. There's a couch and 2 chairs and a corner fireplace (again - not turned on). Behind the couch is a round table with 5 chairs. Just off of the great room is an enclosed sun room with a dining room table and chairs to seat 10 comfortably. The kitchen is a little on the small side; but, it has everything you need to cook anything you want. (I did bring my griddle for pancakes though) Downstairs is a walk-out basement with a playstation 3, 2 tv's, dvd player, vcr, and a family favorite (cocktail arcade table--> again, if it could have fit in the van...!) There's also a pool table and an elliptical. Just off this great room is a full bath (again with a jacuzzi tub) and 2 bedrooms. One of the bedrooms has a window...the other does not. Off the basement is a porch with a gas grill, small table with 4 chairs and a bench. There is a hot tub - but, it isn't available for use. Now, back upstairs..if you turn right after you get in the front door, there's a full bath and a laundry room. Then, go on down the hall and you have a guest suite. Up the stairs is a huge room with incredible views, king size bed, tv, 2 leather chairs, 2 bunk beds, a full bath, mini fridge and microwave. The deck just outside the main part of the house has 6 lounge chairs (cushions in the garage). The main thing I have to tell you is how grand the house was and how INCREDIBLE the owners are! They worked so hard to make this dream vacation work for us! Thank you so much!

PERFECT SUMMER HIDEAWAY IN GORGEOUS SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS

5 of 5
This cabin and location really exceeded all my expectations for a summer get-a-way in greater Durango and the San Juans. I debated a lot on location. Close to town or somewhere just away from the crowds and tucked into a perfect mountain forest?. Choose to get away and select this cabin near Electra Lake. The cabins is about 30 mins from downtown Durango and the drive is gorgeous both up and down. We didn't get tired of driving and we did all the Durango mainstays -the DSNG railroad and Mesa Verde which did require some driving and time from this location. The best part was we'd leave the heat of Durango or Mesa Verde (about 1 hour) and escape to our cabin to find it cool and breezy. As for the cabin itself, it has everything as described. A perfect deck for grilling and a cozy/romantic hot tub. The sleeping rooms are spacious and beds very well appointed and comfortable. I particularly liked the kitchen and layout. Was easy to fix quick meals with adequate counter space, very nice oven/stove and comfortable seating for 4 around the large round table. This cabin also balances the need for privacy and also feel like you are not alone in the woods. It is set down into a simply stunning forested neighborhood with high end log cabins and lovely vacation homes around. But it faces the back of the ridge in such a way, you get plenty of privacy on your deck and hot tub. One morning while drinking coffee we saw a beautiful pair of Mule Deer come through the back. Finally, if you haven't been to the San Juans of Colorado but visited other Colorado mountain communities, be prepared to be blown away by the San Juans. They are simply stunning at every turn. High, ragged and gorgeous. Comparing them to Switzerland is not an understatement and I have been going to Colorado for over 25 years. I simply fell in love with the area and this spacious and delightful cabin is the perfect base camp to explore them. Your hosts are also lovely and gracious and will answer any questions. They provide a lovely guide of their personal favorites of the area - hikes, attractions and restaurants. We felt so welcome and confident in our stay.

A QUIET STAY WHICH IS NOT TOO REMOTE!

5 of 5
My wife and I stayed at the Wayne and Patti Buck ranch cabin for a week to start out our honeymoon. And we both were very happy with the cabin itself, the location, and above all the hospitality! Yes it is located on their property not far from the homestead, however, the Buck's we're very warm hosts and intuitively scarce. You can find the seclusion you are looking for here and felt very much as though we we're located exclusively on our own estate! The view is excellent from the front over looking the irrigation pond, the trees, and the Mesa border beyond which leads into New Mexico. The rear is where my wife and I liked to catch some sun and enjoy a few drinks as the sun went down. The interior of the cabin was large and more than we had needed by far! Also it was very clean and well kempt as is the rest of the Buck ranch. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook and prepare food so don't forget to stop on your way in and pick up some grocery's and of course something to put on the grill! The bed we slept in was very plush and comfortable and you'll also find a tv in the kitchen area with a small assortment of movies. What I like the most is if your not one to sit around (and I'm not) the small town of Ignacio is a short 10-12 minutes away where you'll find a couple shops, 2 gas stations, a laundromat, and a casino! And what ever you may possibly want to do or need Durango is about 35 minutes away filled with amenities and adventure! And if you have a day to spend, from the cabin, about 1 ¾ hours away is the beautiful town of Silverton! The drive is gorgeous but if you'd rather, hop on the vintage Silverton train in Durango! Thank you Wayne and Patti, immensely for your hospitality, campfire stories and a wonderful stay at your cabin! Hoping to return soon!
