Great little bungalow close to everything

Our stay in Fort Collins was fantastic thanks largely to this comfortable little bungalow. Best of all, it was close to everything we wanted to see. We arrive on a Friday night and Saturday morning as we sat at the breakfast table we saw more people walking their dogs and cyclists pedaling down the street than we did cars. The same was true on Sunday. We really began to think that no one drove cars in Fort Collins. This changed Monday morning when the nearby daycare staff began to arrive and park on Scott Avenue. But what a pleasure to see all the pedestrians and cyclists! We quickly learned that many of the pedestrians were walking down Scott Ave. to nearby Beaver's Market, the only locally-owned neighborhood grocery store in Fort Collins. How cool was that to be able to walk to the store for milk, veggies, fruit and their famous homemade bratwurst. We didn't once have to drive to a big supermarket! The house itself is a comfortable east-facing early 20th century bungalow. I say east-facing as it was very cool to be awakened in the morning by the bright Colorado sun streaming in through the front room windows. The front porch with the bench swing and armchair were great for sitting and greeting neighbors. And the back patio with the table, chairs and grassy lawn would be great when the weather warms up - we hope to come back! The spacious kitchen opens to the back patio and the stairs to the basement where there is a washer and dryer. The kitchen also has access to the bathroom that opens to the bedroom. The bedroom has two windows, a walk-in closet and chest of drawers and the bed is quite comfortable. The large living room has a sofa, armchairs, TV and is close to the kitchen and a round table with chairs. The layout of the house is friendly and harmonious and makes a stay there, short or prolonged, very enjoyable! The best thing about the house was the location. We had our bikes and pedaled to Old Town, CSU and to City Park with no problem. The City publishes a bike map of the trails and bike routes through town and we were able to use that to find our way around. Mountain Avenue, for example, has bike lanes all the way to Old Town and is less than two blocks from the house. Oak Street and Magnolia also have good bike lanes. And are nearby. Loomis St. leads directly to the CSU campus. We'll be back to stay here again!
