Fabulous Mountain Get-a-way!!

5 of 5
Thank you for such a fabulous mountain get-a-way! Your beautifully restored log cabin is set in the middle of one of the most beautiful places in the Rocky Mountains! My husband and I spent several days in this quiet and peaceful hide-a-way and it was very hard to leave. We enjoyed Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. We have never seen such an incredible canopy of stars at night displaying God's creation; and the sounds of the elk bugling was amazing. We rode our bikes down the county roads and enjoyed the gorgeous fall colors, we hiked on the Ranch property, fly fished and had such fun horseback riding on the ranch property going through the south platte river and up and down mountains. Info on the horseback riding is in the cabin. The cabin is so well appointed with a super comfy bed in the loft with windows all around you. When you wake up you see the sunrise and deer on the property. The kitchen has everything that is needed and we enjoyed barbecuing. The family room is so comfy also with the huge sectional couch and we had a fire going every night. Of course it's always nice to have the convenience of wifi and cable. Even washing dishes was fun because of the incredible view out of the window above the sink. The town of Fairplay was close enough that we could go and explore the history of the area and eat out a couple of times and enjoy ice cream treats. We even went over the pass to Breckenridge to ride the beautiful bike trail from Breckenridge to Frisco. There are also great hikes just down the county road in Pike National Forest. In FairPlay there is a Forest Service station with great info on hikes and the area. The Java Moose is a must for a great latte or sandwich. We also had a great meal at the steakhouse in town. Next to the steakhouse is a yummy ice cream shop. Definitely take an afternoon to see South Park, a restored town from the 1800s with original buildings and artifacts. The owners of the cabin and ranch were so helpful before we arrived answering any questions we might have and even answered a couple of questions for us when we were there. We so appreciated their kindness. The ranch where the cabin is located also has such an interesting history. We came home rested and refreshed!! Don't miss out on this opportunity to experience such a beautiful, relaxing, unique and fun get-a-way!

Slice of Solitude

5 of 5
This is an amazing set-up. The cabin is comfortable, modern, spacious, and well-appointed, yet has a rustic log cabin flair that adds a welcome element of rugged character. The property is simply breath-taking (as is the elevation, but that is par for the mountain course, as it were). Although just minutes from 2 small towns (and about 45 mins from Breckinridge via a beautiful and highly recommended drive), the property is perfectly placed seemingly miles away from civilization and at the mouth of a small "private" valley shadowed by impressive peaks. The cabin itself is enveloped by small snow-fed streams that essentially form a "moat" around it and that coalesce into a small private pond filled with trout that you can actually see from the banks. The beauty of this place is enhanced by the natural symphony of its bubbling brooks, which are always in concert (at least in July). The owners are wonderfully hospitable and seem to be really great people (thanks again, Monica). Simply put, the pictures do no justice to this magnificent slice of solitude. I have stayed at several other "seemingly similar" Colorado cabin sites via VRBO, and this was by far the best and most beautiful. Highly recommended.
