EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED!

The pictures and descriptions only tell the beginning. This place is absolutely beautiful. My family of 4, including 2 teenagers and 2 dogs, absolutely loved our stay here. The kitchen is fully stocked, the beds comfortable and the views are fantastic. We did all the tourist activities in the Durango/Vallecito area, but our favorite thing to do was getting back to the cabin. Hikes on the many trails or walking the property, playing horseshoes and running the dogs until they were exhausted was the highlight of our days. Evenings were spent on the porch and then inside next to the fireplace. We kept so busy playing and talking that we never even thought about the lack of a T.V. (Please don't ever add one) We had a truck so the last mile and half was never an issue for us, but I'm not sure if I would attempt to bring a car up the last part of the road to the house. The owners answered all of our questions (even the silly ones) and mailed our deposit back the day after we left. Thanks again Greg and Jan, can't wait to come back.

A QUIET STAY WHICH IS NOT TOO REMOTE!

5 of 5
My wife and I stayed at the Wayne and Patti Buck ranch cabin for a week to start out our honeymoon. And we both were very happy with the cabin itself, the location, and above all the hospitality! Yes it is located on their property not far from the homestead, however, the Buck's we're very warm hosts and intuitively scarce. You can find the seclusion you are looking for here and felt very much as though we we're located exclusively on our own estate! The view is excellent from the front over looking the irrigation pond, the trees, and the Mesa border beyond which leads into New Mexico. The rear is where my wife and I liked to catch some sun and enjoy a few drinks as the sun went down. The interior of the cabin was large and more than we had needed by far! Also it was very clean and well kempt as is the rest of the Buck ranch. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook and prepare food so don't forget to stop on your way in and pick up some grocery's and of course something to put on the grill! The bed we slept in was very plush and comfortable and you'll also find a tv in the kitchen area with a small assortment of movies. What I like the most is if your not one to sit around (and I'm not) the small town of Ignacio is a short 10-12 minutes away where you'll find a couple shops, 2 gas stations, a laundromat, and a casino! And what ever you may possibly want to do or need Durango is about 35 minutes away filled with amenities and adventure! And if you have a day to spend, from the cabin, about 1 ¾ hours away is the beautiful town of Silverton! The drive is gorgeous but if you'd rather, hop on the vintage Silverton train in Durango! Thank you Wayne and Patti, immensely for your hospitality, campfire stories and a wonderful stay at your cabin! Hoping to return soon!

COLORADO CHRISTMAS AT GABRIEL'S CABIN

5 of 5
This is just simply a great place. Everything worked out SO well for our Family Christmas at Gabriel's Cabin and thank you for all you did to expedite our family gathering - even an unexpected lovely basket of fruit and a note on arrival. What a perfectly gorgeous spot, and yes, George the dog did love it! The weather was beautiful - snowboarding on the mountain, snowshoeing at Molas Pass, hiking around Lake Vallecito & the Colorado Trail, relaxing in the near by hot springs, easy access to the River Trail for walks. We loved cooking in Gabriel's kitchen & sitting in the sunshine on the downstairs patio, listening to the river and letting the deer check us out. So many terrific restaurants/breweries just a few miles away and easy access to the marvelous Animas River Trail. We flew into Durango, rented a car, and just a short trip to the Rio Angels lovely acreage. With various members of our family flying in at different times, it was so convenient to be on the airport side of Durango. Rec Center passes happily used, and the wood stove was great - only problem was the weather was so nice there were just a few days that we used it! Rio Angels was just exquisite in the winter time and am imagining what it must be like in the Colorado spring.
