Spotless, Cozy, Quiet Respite from the City

5 of 5
Talk about relaxation and quiet! Our family of 2 teens, 2 parents, and a 3 year-old well-behaved Golden Doodle just returned from an amazing stay at the Mountain Haven. This was our first VRBO experience and it could not have been better. From the excellent driving directions to easy-to-follow entry, it was a pleasure to transact with the owners. When we arrived, we fell in love with the big wide windows that kept the cold out and the stars in. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to cook at home. Our “No Technology” experiment was a divine success: we puzzled, we gamed, we talked to each other (to quote my 16 year-old, “Hey, we’re all in the same room and nobody is killing anybody”), we made meals, we snowshoed, we looked at the stars, we made fires in the lovely potbelly stove, and we just plain hung out, with no distractions. The beds were cozy, the reading nook peaceful, the FM radio with its tragic DJ from Vail nostalgic, the décor full of cabin and fishing whimsy. One of the best parts for me was how warm it stayed inside, while single-digit winds blew the snow around outside. The Mountain Haven ignited our dreams for having one of our own.

Amazing! Relaxing and enjoyable stay in South Main neighborhood of BV

5 of 5
We arrived in Buena Vista in the evening, and made our through a town lit up by holiday lights to the South Main neighborhood, a beautiful and thoughtfully planned extension of Main Street. The Clocktower, a bright focal point of the neighborhood, is just a block from the Arkansas River and near-by trails; many restaurants and shops are also close by. The apartment perches on the second floor, under the clock, with views to the west of the open land climbing into the mountain ranges (amazing sunsets!). The owners, John and Allison, have created a warm and welcoming home, with many hand-crafted and unique, thoughtful touches (e.g., the concrete counters are "homemade," and Allison designed the patterns for the black & white tile floors). An open floor plan (full kitchen, dining area and living room) creates a perfect space for hanging out, and the bedrooms, in the rear of the apartment and building, are quiet. Extremely comfortable beds, we slept quite well; and in the mornings took a short walk to the near-by Buena Vista Roastery for coffee. We've visited BV previously, but this was our first stay at The Clocktower Flat. We felt totally spoiled staying here! Would've stayed longer if we could, and look forward to returning. other features/comments: all new appliances; t.v., sound system; selection of movies, books, games; the property is extremely well cared for; enthusiastically recommended!
