Brilliant vacation for our group

5 of 5
My wife and I recently returned to Hacienda Las Trancas for the third time. Each visit, our groups have rented the entire hacienda for a week, so the experience has been somewhere between a resort and a rental property. I have tried to describe the place and experience to others, but there are no adequate words. For friends who have recently been there with us, there are also no adequate words, but now they understand. We go with people who are like minded – if you're looking for a glitzy 5-star resort with smooth, shiny surfaces, this is not your place. It's 450 years old and full of texture and character. If you prefer authenticity and soul mixed with creativity and care, then it can be as special as you want it to be. It's casual elegance is nice and comfortable – rooms, grounds, food, everything. The staff are real people who you want to take home with you. The somewhat remote location inspires relaxation, but there's also plenty to do – when you include day trips into the must-see cities of Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel and Guanajuato, the days fly by. Our group of 20 arrived as friends and acquaintances. A week later, we left as family. The hacienda is the kind of place where that can happen. Since returning, we simply laugh and hug one another and try to tell others to trust us.

An ideal familiy getaway!

Recently visited San Miguel de Allende with my wife and two children (Girl 8, Boy 5), along wth my brother's family of the same size. We had a fantastic trip overall, but really fell in love with the incredible peace and tranquility of Luna Serena. We stayed in the guest apartment, which was nicely accomodated for our two families. The residence was locally furnished and appointed to its surroundings. The kids loved waking up to see the beautiful blonde palomino horses, prancing in the cool morning air. The parents enjoyed selectig a different patio for each part of the day. We watched the moon setting across the mountains early in the morning from the rooftop. Had breakfast in the sheltered courtyard patio, then read a book in the shade of the back patio during the warm part of the afternoon. The kids cooled off in the pool, then enjoyed walking around the various themed gardens that surround th property. We were warmly welcomed by the owners, Victor and Sue. At one point I was needing to connect to the office via inernet (not great on vacation ... but) and Victor had a high speed connection set up the next day! Worked perfectly. Te facility had a local family caretaking the property. They were incredibly accomodating to our family of "gringos" with brely high school Spanish. Everyone had a trip not soon forgotten. Kids are now horseback riders and lovers, and are missing the freedom of running around the large property with the dogs. As for their parents, my quote of the trip was from my brother about 3 days into the vacation, "I can't remember the last time I felt so relaxed so fast on vacation". San Miguel is a very special town and Victor and Sue's Luna Serena was the perfect accomodation for us. We're already planning our return!

Casa Magdalena has it all! Big and beautiful! Great girl's getaway! I stayed here with 8 girlfriends and we had a blast! We each had our own bedroom with private bathroom; perfect. The town of San Miguel is tons of fun.
