A Wonderful Experience

5 of 5
Casa Arbol is truly one of the most beautiful homes in San Miguel. From the stone walls to the beautiful furniture and art to the views of the town, it provides an experience in gracious living second to none. The location is ideal, right on the edge of Centro, far enough out to be peaceful and quiet yet still close enough to the center of town to walk. All three bedrooms are elegant suites with the most comfortable of beds and a dinner party in the great room is a regal event. The staff keeps the house immaculate and they could not be nicer and more attentive to your needs. It was very difficult to leave. I highly recommend this property.

excellent

not only was the casita fully furnished --- bedroom, kitchen, bath ---- but Joey was a great help in finding our way around San Miquel when we first arrived; the roof-top terrace is a great place to eating in the evening while watching the sun set...

The best of the best

5 of 5
If you’ve read the previous reviews, I have little else to say but agree with it all. The house is magnificent. We loved the high vaulted brick ceilings in the living room and dining room. There are so many wonderful areas to sit quietly with a good book and/or company. My favorite place was the grand balcony on the second floor just off the master bedroom. The house is full of carefully chosen details, like the beautiful way in which the stair steps leading to the second floor are lit. The patio with the fountain has a nice set of thick white curtains which can be drawn to stop the afternoon sun and enjoy the cool breeze going through. Somehow it felt like a Mediterranean home. On the rooftop terrace we watched not only beautiful sunsets but also a couple of spectacular thunderstorms. The Guadiana neighborhood could not be more attractive and well located. We walked to many of our favorite stores and restaurants. It became apparent that the thing to do is take a taxi ride (about $2.50 US dollars) to go uphill to the downtown area (or further up a bit) and then leisurely walk down all those highly attractive cobble stone streets admiring buildings, doorways, courtyards, and balconies. There are dozens and dozens of places to eat great food ranging from typically Mexican to European and Mediterranean. Though there is a Starbucks right on the main square, I preferred by far to go to La Mesa Grande, where I could enjoy not only great coffee, but also home made bread, pizzas and great desserts. As if this was not enough, Barnabe and Angelica, the house staff really made a huge difference. When I read that other visitors had enjoyed the huevos rancheros, enchiladas, tortilla soup and the albondigas (meat balls), I made sure he would cook them for us too; and they were all delicious. We almost never had lunch out of the home, since Barnabe’s cooking abilities could easily compete with any of the local restaurants. Angelica always smiling made sure the house was immaculate the whole time. If we ever go back to San Miguel de Allende, we wouldn't consider anywhere else!!
