Brilliant vacation for our group

5 of 5
My wife and I recently returned to Hacienda Las Trancas for the third time. Each visit, our groups have rented the entire hacienda for a week, so the experience has been somewhere between a resort and a rental property. I have tried to describe the place and experience to others, but there are no adequate words. For friends who have recently been there with us, there are also no adequate words, but now they understand. We go with people who are like minded – if you're looking for a glitzy 5-star resort with smooth, shiny surfaces, this is not your place. It's 450 years old and full of texture and character. If you prefer authenticity and soul mixed with creativity and care, then it can be as special as you want it to be. It's casual elegance is nice and comfortable – rooms, grounds, food, everything. The staff are real people who you want to take home with you. The somewhat remote location inspires relaxation, but there's also plenty to do – when you include day trips into the must-see cities of Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel and Guanajuato, the days fly by. Our group of 20 arrived as friends and acquaintances. A week later, we left as family. The hacienda is the kind of place where that can happen. Since returning, we simply laugh and hug one another and try to tell others to trust us.

Great location and very comfortable.

4 of 5
Great. It has all you'll need. Lots of room. It's like the pictures. Pretty, clean, it has the two bed rooms, two bathrooms as listed, plus the big main room combination living room and dining room. A good size kitchen, another eating area, a laundry room with a washer and dryer. It's new one and does a good job. The phone available is very helpful to receive and make local calls. We were able to take the public transportation (5.50 pesos each way) to all the museums and many tourist attractions. Many good restaurants steps from the building. Another great is, Antonio the driver Maria recommended. He will go out of his way to see you happy. His prices are very good. He was waiting at the airport for us. It's nice to go to a new place and someone is waiting to take care of you. And of course knew exactly where the apt was. (300 pesos) I could go longer on why we appreciated him... I hope this helps. And yes, we would stay there again. I recommend it!

THE place to stay in Guanajuato!

5 of 5
We two thoroughly enjoyed our week in this beautiful, multi-storied house. It overlooks a most charming and lively Plaza San Fernando and is close to everything of interest. The view from any window and the roof top is marvelous! Lorena warmly greets you upon arrival and makes you feel right at home. She's the one to call for tours, information or any type of assistance. Maria, the owner, was both attentive and a pleasure to work with. We'll return to this house because it was very comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully decorated. The garden was a rainbow of healing colors with a magnificent background of majestic mountains and the magical town of Guanajuato. You must spend several days to do justice to this most fascinating region of Mexico.
