Peace and Quiet in a Tropical Paradise

5 of 5
Hi Fred! It’s been three years since we wrote our first review of your home and thought it might be good to give our review an update. And having just arrived home from our sixth stay at Casa Roja, I wonder if we have earned some sort of honorary status, no? You already know what a treasure you have with Casa Roja and we feel so fortunate to be able to frequently borrow your piece of tropical paradise. When considering whether to stay in town or at Casa Roja, trial and error taught us that your place wins hands down. Don’t get me wrong, San Juan is great – we enjoy the quick drive into town to shop, visit the Farmers Market or grab a bite to eat but that we can quickly escape the heat and hustle bustle of town is what we treasure on vacation here. And with Playa Hermosa virtually down the road from Casa Roja, we just zip down there to swim, surf and search for shells on the beach. By comparison the beach in town isn't as swimmable, surf-able or quite as beautiful. Whether we’re returning from town or the beach, we appreciate being able to get back home quickly to unwind nestled in tranquil privacy. On our first visit, we had wondered about security but it has never been a concern. Whether it’s during our morning walks or peaceful evenings spent stargazing comfortably tucked away in what has truly become a home away from home, we never worry about or want for much. Your caretaker, Luis, is like family and it goes without saying that we love your adorable dogs so much that we are taking Luca back with us later this year. We are confident Casa Roja’s two remaining pups, Indie and Toby, will continue to keep people smiling with their loving laid back demeanors. (Do you put it in other guest's contracts to bring them treats or is it just us?!) Reflecting on all our time and experiences there, it’s almost like your place mellows and ages well with time. You’ve kept it in excellent condition. We noticed the new paint along with new outdoor furniture, gas grill and more. The plants have tripled in size and fruits are everywhere! Luis’s handiwork, no doubt. But why is it we can never find the free bottle of Flora de Cana Rum you always promise us!!! Keep up the good work and we will be back very soon!

The Best!

5 of 5
If you are looking for a great beach house that has privacy, no crowds, that is truly oceanfront ,(just a seldom traveled dirt road outside the gate and you are right on the beach, really!) this is your pick. Honestly, I have been coming to the Hermosa area for years, and you will not find a more nicely landscaped oceanfront property here. Unlike the packed in Hermosa Palms or bungalow developments, here you will have peace and quiet with the beach mostly to yourself. A short drive or walk brings you up to the main costanera, where there are numerous amenities. I spent hours under the shade of a beautiful tree next to the pool, and there was always an ocean breeze. Behind the house is a beautiful undeveloped area where you can walk trails and see plenty of beautiful flora and fauna. I felt very safe with the house under patrol by a guard at night. This house is perfect for families, and my little dog sat for hours watching for the iguanas to come out of their hiding places! Very accessible (do not need 4WD) and centrally located to many attractions. Absolutely fabulous stay, thank you Beth and Jack!

This House has it all - Your best bet in Placencia

5 of 5
This house lives up to the pictures! The place is incredible with views of the ocean from every room. The kitchen has everything you need including an ice machine. The front patio which is shaded is perfect for hanging out with your friends and family while gazing at the sea. The pool is big enough to stay cool and if you need a bigger pool, privelages at the Placencia Hotel down the road are included and that pool is amazing and huge with a swim up bar to boot! The bedrooms all have their own bathroom and the beds are very comfortable. Mirabel keeps the house clean and does your laundry every day which cuts down on what you have to bring with you. She is so sweet and will help with anything you need. Domingo the chef is amazing - he has a great disposition and he is an excellent chef. The experience of having breakfast, lunch and dinner cooked for you is luxurious. I have rented many vacation houses around the world and this is one of the best because so much is included. You get daily maid and laundry service, a personal chef every 3 days, a 6 passenger golf cart, kayaks, bicycles, ice machine, swimming pool, priveleges at the Placencia Hotel Pool and the beach at your back door. It was Amazing. For Restaurants I would recommend Singing Sands and the Maya Beach Hotel bistro - their food is at such a high level - I was pleasantly surprised. the snorkeling is amazing - we saw an eagle ray, nurse shark, sea turtle, carribean ray, squid and hundreds of fish!
