The perfect vacation - we'll be back!

5 of 5
We absolutely had the best vacation in our 30 years together! You know you've found the perfect place when the morning after we arrived while lounging by the pool we began planning our return. Bob, Bea and their family of furry friends were the best hosts, always available for us if we had a question or any need. Seabreeze Casa was perfect in every way. The only thing I could have used was a cushier pillow (but I'm a pillow snob) and it certainly did not affect my sleep. We slept soundly every night. Terry and I enjoyed the place so much we had to force ourselves to go to the beach and the store. We ate lunch at Tortilla Flats twice but were always anxious to come "home" to Seabreeze. Bea took us on a couple of quad adventures and we were able to meet their groundskeeper's family (who insisted that we stay for an entirely home grown, home raised fabulous meal). We enjoyed the two storms that rushed through, the awesome fireflies, the monkeys, parrots, Toucans and the huge toads who sat by the pool at night. We loved the geckos who visited us in the evenings while we played cards. The view from the tub of all of the above while having champagne and a bubble bath was such a treat! But the pool was our favorite part of all (I want one just like it) with the spectacular view. Tara adopted us and is so, so sweet. And when we hiked we were accompanied by a little black lab (I can't remember her name). The flowers! WOW. The whole property is beautifully landscaped and there are so many, many types of flowers everywhere! And the jungle is amazing! My goodness, between our camera and our two phones we took over a thousand pictures and videos! Our family and friends have had to sit through our enthusiastic "slide show" :) Oh, and the new Villa is without a doubt the most beautifully appointed guest home that I have EVER seen (I manage over 125 vacation homes several of which are rated Platinum so I know what I'm talking about). Thank you for this wonderful memory! We're coming back in a few months to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! Seabreeze sleeps around 12 or so (but is perfect for two)! Beautiful and tranquil home in the middle of paradise!

5 of 5
My family and I just returned from our stay at Casa Roja, and loved the time we spent in this beautiful home. It's peaceful, tranquil, well-designed, and the views are stellar! We spent so much of our time on the outdoor deck by the pool and on the hammocks in the rancho, and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Fred, the owner, was great to work with -- he was responsive, informative and helpful. I highly recommend this home to travelers to Nicaragua!

Lucky #7 - Pura Vida indeed!!

5 of 5
For our 7th stay at Casa Sammie we opted for something different-we visited during the last two weeks in November-tail end of the rainy season and we loved it. Yes it rained while we were there, mostly in the afternoon, but the rain never interfered with the enjoyment of our trip. We planned our outings for early morning, which we usually do anyway and we were not rained out once. Did not try dancing in the rain-did try swimming in the rain in the Casa Sammie pool, a wonderful experience though it cannot surpass a full moon night swim. Went for a walk in the rain-a refreshing experience. So if you are planning a trip to Casa Sammie and December to March are booked-try November, you will enjoy it! For this trip we had our friend Sandi join us for her first trip to Costa Rica. One of the pleasures of Tarcoles is the ability to mingle with the locals in a non-tourist setting. Sandi is an avid bingo player so on a Sunday afternoon we went to a fundraising bingo at the Tarcoles school. To be able to make a small contribution to the local community while having an enjoyable outing was heart warming. Special thanks to Lourdes for translating during the bingo games. Having Sandi with us for her first visit gave us an opportunity to re-experience our first trip to Costa Rica in 2007. We did the Jungle Crocodile Safari boat trip again-it was better than we remember from 2007. We had a knowledgeable guide, saw Howler monkeys for the first time, lots of birds and of course crocodiles. We found a great guide, Maurice Vazquez, for a trek in Carara Park. The best way to experience the park is with a guide. Maurice took us on a trail in the north part of the park which offered great opportunity for wildlife viewing - saw Howler monkeys again. Maurice did a great job taking photos through his spotting scope using my Blackberry camera. Keep in mind that these two great outings are only a 10 minute drive from Casa Sammie! Maurice Vazquez: great knowledge+good English=excellent guide. We left his contact information in the Casa Sammie book. Maurice also contributed to a new #1 highlight for our Costa Rica vacations. Maurice took us on a night hike on Playa Heramosa. While a thunderstorm raged far out on the Pacific we got to see a sea turtle laying eggs-repeating a ritual that has gone on for thousands of years. An experience hard to describe in words. What Costa Rica has to offer within a short distance of Casa Sammie never ceases to amaze. We shall return!
