Beautiful place!

5 of 5
The house is amazing! Plenty of living space, on the same time cozy and comfortable. The views were magical. The house is right on the beach. We had wonderful time swimming, surfing, enjoying "curtain" waves and just walking on a beach and collecting sea shells. It was our 1st trip to Nicaragua. The owners were very helpful giving us tips how to plan our vacation. Special thank you to Roger who was our guide and translator on our adventure days. He made sure we always had everything we needed, from food to massages. Sara is an amazing cook, highly recommend her, you will not be disappointed. I could go on and on raving about this place, but in a short, I highly recommend this place to everyone! We are already talking about when we will go back.

perfect beach house

5 of 5
We visited in July 2014 for a girls getaway - high school friends who've known each other forever. The house was perfect for a mixed group. We surfed, walked on the beach, spent ages in the pool, rented bikes, did yoga, played in the waves and enjoyed the local restaurants and attractions. Ahead of our trip, the owner (Dan) was very helpful in answering our many questions. Christian was a fabulous concierge, and Herman and Lubis looked after us and the house very well - leaving us our privacy, but being close enough to help us if needed. We had a daily yoga session in the living room/pool area with Monica - the views were almost too spectacular to believe, and the instruction was terrific. The Costa Rican restaurant at the end of the driveway is great. And our meal prepared by Billy was terrific too. The house and grounds are in terrific condition. Having en suite bathrooms in every bedroom meant that everyone was happy with their rooms. We didn't rent a car, and didn't miss having it. It's a lovely walk to the crossroads along the beach, an easy bike ride along the road, and there was a taxi available whenever we needed it. There are groceries and restaurants within easy walking distance. This location is highly recommended.

Privacy with great views and good service

5 of 5
We travelled by car to Bucaro with another couple with whom we shared this lovely beach home. A car (preferably an all-wheel drive SUV) is definitely an asset if you wish to see all this owner has to offer on his two large properties. Also, restaurants are not within walking distance, the nearest ones being about 20 minutes away in Tonosi. Tonosi also has a couple of grocery stores where we were able to purchase most essentials, i.e., fruit, veggies, meat, beer and wine, etc. I would recommend doing a shop on your way, probably in Chitre or Las Tablas, if you have any special desires. We were welcomed by Christina who made us feel at home immediately. She even provided Spanish lessons when she came each morning to feed Bogey the dog and the lively and fun cat we named Ringo. In the late afternoon we enjoyed seeing the howler monkeys who played in the trees just beyond the fence. Their howling was also part of the orchestra of early morning sounds. The house is nicely furnished with comfortable living room chairs and reasonable mattresses. The house is very secure as the yard is completely fenced with a locked gate. The kitchen is quite well equipped which made it possible to cook most of our meals there, including some fish we purchased from the fish vendor in Bucaro. The highlight of the house is the lovely front veranda where, at any time of the day or night, great views, from the sun rising on the Pacific, or beautiful moonlight scenes await your enjoyment. The sandy beach, which was generally not too wavy, is perfect for swimming though not great for surfing. It also provides a pleasant walk to the estuary. Some of us hiked the road, over the hill, to the beach on the other side. Best to do this in the early morning as it becomes very hot on the steep, gravel road. I would think it quite doable in a four-wheel drive vehicle. The other property, about an hour away (just past Canas), and a fun day adventure, has beautiful, long and sandy beaches with lots of surfing waves and even some sea caves. The restaurant at the turnoff to Canas provided a pretty good meal on the way back. We found a couple of other restaurants at Playa Cambutal (about 35 minutes drive) where we enjoyed a couple of lunches.
