Lovely villa, lovely hosts awsome beach just our style

4 of 5
The positive reviews on Tripadvisor helped seal the deal for our stay at Villa Vista Mar which is perfectly named. Offers an enticing view of Ocotal and the Golf of Papagayo. Ed & Lori live on premises and are generous, helpful & gracious hosts. Our family of 4 had apt 3 and we were cozy and comfortable. The apartment was exceptionally clean with no bugs. (Which is impressive in Costa Rica.) It would be a great spot for a Romantic get away. The outdoor seating areas ie. kitchen, grill &pool offered opportunities for relaxing and /or socializing with other guests. Many if the guests at VVM have returned for many years. Ed is quick witted, has a wealth of information on the area and is the consument host, respectful of privacy without being intrusive. Playa Ocotal is a great beach for families. Great snorkeling and tide pools right off the beach only a 10 minute walk away. The snorkeling was better right off shore than with the local tour we took. We saw 100's of fish!! Puffers, needlefish, clown fish etc. We only travel with one carry on each so the laundry area was helpful. We regret being unable to stay longer this time but, hope to return next year too stay longer!! We tend to do much of our own cooking and can be kitchen snobs so our one feedback suggestion would be more silverware. There excellent selection of books. 2 cabinets full! If you want to try tico spool fishing the beach is perfect. We were there on a Sunday and here were 20 to 30 fisherman lined up shoulder to shoulder. It was really neat to see. Lots of restaurants within a 15 min drive. Lots of Supers nearby which we tend to favor for shopping while in CR. Playa Coco is a 10 minute drive. Stayed November 2014, fingers cross for a return visit in the next year.

Restful privacy!

5 of 5
I recently spent a week at the charming Casita during a work visit to Costa Rica. I spend a lot of time in hotels so, I was looking for a place with a little more character. Casa Limon was a great choice! Easy to get to off of the Highway 27 toll road, I was not at all discouraged by the distance from San Jose. The house is well equipped and I found all f the utensils I needed to cook several meals at home. My favorite part of the stay was the orange tree only a few paces from my front door. I also enjoyed seeing all of the hummingbirds in the yard. Although, I didn't take advantage of the swimming pool or grill area, it was definitely impressive. I found the look coop grocery to be excellent and there are several great restaurants in town. This is a great property at a great price!

Perfect get away in nice and cool Dominical!

4 of 5
My girlfriend, 2 young boys and myself headed to the Blue Shack this spring 2014 for a 2-week stay. Although we had seen pictures, we were stunned on arrival by how clean, modern and big the house actually was. The house is also conveniently located in the middle of the main road in Dominical with a lot of services (grocery, restaurants, liquor store, laundry) and most importantly, the beach, within walking distance. We were also impressed by how isolated it was from all the dust and noise coming from the, sometime, busy street outside. The house is also well secured with high walls, gate and secured room, no stress there. Despite the very warm outside temperature during our stay (even according to the locals) we were always comfortable in the house thanks to all the fans. The 3rd floor terrace is a really nice spot to relax in the hammocks or watch the sunset over the ocean... The owners were very helpful during the booking, responded quickly to any questions by emails and also helped us organized our stay. Their onsite "representative" is the coolest guy and he also helped us a lot. Dominical is mainly a surf spot but, it is also perfect for beginners like us. There are surf lessons and board rental all over the place. The good thing is that it is not a crowded destination so, the vibe was relax and chill just as we had hope! There are many other things to do in the area accessible by car or taxi by yourself or with an organized tour; reptile zoo, waterfalls, sea caves, snorkelling, diving trip, horse back, hiking, national parks, ... There are many restaurants in town for many different taste and budget. Our favourite were the taco Tuesday at San Clemente Bar and Grill and the pizzas from La Casita. We also cooked a lot in the huge and fully furnished kitchen of the Blue Shack including a gas stove and an espresso machine. All in all, we had a great time in Dominical and the Blue Shack definitely had a key role in the success of our vacation. We are looking forward to go back!
