Our Favorite Place in Nicaragua

5 of 5
It was hard to leave this beautiful house in the hills above SJDS and the fantastic care of Luis and his wife. We spent 13 nights enjoying the surroundings, sounds of howler monkeys, many different species of birds, amazing view of the ocean and Costa Rica beyond. Some of the highlights were having Kenny Nakai, chef extraordinaire; prepare us a gourmet four course dinner for us at Casa Roja. We spent our mornings hiking, bird watching and visiting local beaches. We were fortunate enough to time our visit with the arrival of hundreds of sea turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs on Playa La Flor. In the afternoons we enjoyed reading, relaxing, swimming and partaking in the local Nicaraguan Rum. Evening sunsets were impossible to describe as the sky continually changed colors and thunderstorms began their almost nightly show in the distance. After dinner, a glass of wine or a Nica Libre, friends, music, dancing fire flies and lightening shows over Costa Rica were a spectacular end to the day. The casitas are perfectly designed for families or friends traveling together, giving everyone their own space and privacy. The bathrooms are luxurious and the bedrooms large with ceiling fans above the beds and enough solar power to run them all night. We used the kitchen and outdoor grill to cook the majority of our meals and enjoyed them at the outdoor dining table. Fred was an absolute pleasure to correspond with and was always easy to reach and quick to respond to all of my questions; he was gracious enough to let us arrive a day earlier than planned, with very little notice! The location of the house was perfect; close enough to town for groceries or activities, but far enough that every time we came back we felt as if we were very far away “from it all”. We have rented houses through VRBO from South Africa to South America and several countries in Central America and would highly recommend Casa Roja and hope to someday return.

Casa Sea Breeze est un paradis sur terre (is a Paradise on earth)

5 of 5
Very private, cozy and clean this house itself is fully equiped. What you see on pictures, well its better in real. The view is amazing. Took my breath away!!! Be in the middle of the jungle surrounded bt monkeys, toucans, perroquets, horses, dogs, birds etc... my wife and I felt very safe and we had fun taking pictures. Waking up in the morning with a fresh Costa Rica cup of coffee by the infinity pool, smelling flowers and looked at the view that we can see the sea!! Oh!! yes paradise!!!! During that month, nature equal adventure. We went to do grocery st San Isidro Del General and for souvenirs at Quepos. We went to Drake to see primary jungle (one of the best in the world). We also see Manuel Antonio park (volcano). We did canopy, horse riding by water fall, fishing, etc.... and to do all those activities Bob and Bea were very helpfull for us. They almost do all our arrangments. What ever you need, Bob and Bea were also available 24 hours per day. Thank you so very much to make our vacations a paradise and i missed my Tara!!! You are the best and respecfull hostess!!! Like we said in (french) Canada, vous êtes du bon monde (good people). I recommend this Villa, its a paradise. Je recommande cette villa, c'est vraiment un paradis. Pura Vida xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Del Congo de Uvita - A Paradise on Earth!

5 of 5
This was an incredible journey! We arrived at the house, up the huge mountain and felt as if we were in paradise! The view was beyond stunning and it was so peaceful. We loved the indigenous town of Uvita. The description of the home and area was exactly as expected. Del has an amazing household team: Alex and Estefany, who are wonderfully warm, helpful and friendly people. Without them, the trip would not have been as enjoyable...they were there for our every need and we miss them! They both made sure that every detail was taken care of for us and always explained how to get to places; they cleaned the home everyday while we were gone and we always returned to fresh laundry! Thank you to Del for also ensuring that our trip was the best it could be; he stayed in contact with us throughout the trip, checking in to make sure our stay was a good one! His home couldn't have been more relaxing after a long day of horseback riding, waterfall excursions, ATV'ing, boating, and more. Not only do you have an amazing view but the home has doors that open on all sides and you feel as if you a living among nature in the rainforest. Even when it did rain, we sat out on the patio with drinks and listened to the sounds of rain and animals. We experienced seeing a slow sloth in a tree one day, toucan birds and heard the roars of monkeys. We also saw a colorful macaw bird and baby monkeys playing in a local restaurant, among the trees. There are many wonderful beaches to explore every single day along the coast - some in the national parks and better ones outside of the park - especially Play Ventana, our favorite private beach, not far from Uvita. Also make sure to check out the Tilapias El Pavon restaurant near the Punta Mala de Osa bridge - it has an amazing waterfall on the grounds (INCREDIBLE!!). We don't have too many criticisms; we didn't have any bug biting problems and the house was bug free aside from a visit or two from a gecko; the ride up and down the mountain takes some getting used to as it is somewhat steep and narrow, but we just took it slow; we even stopped at Del's small yet beautiful waterfall on the grounds. Overall the trip was the perfect adventurous type vacation you dream of and the local people are extremely friendly; you feel safe all the time and only have to relax and enjoy the beautify surroundings. We will definitely return some day. Thank you Del, Alex and Estefany for such a lovely memory! The Sparacios, New York
