Fantastic!

5 of 5
WOW! There are not enough words to describe how wonderful this house is. My family uses VRBO for most of our holiday travels and this is the best place we have ever stayed. The pictures do a good job of showing the beauty of the house and the grounds. Javier and Mabel were fantastic. We had an adventure getting to the house leaving B. C.at 4:40pm which meant driving most of the way in the dark. How great it was to walk in to the house and find it cool and a fresh pitcher of rum punch which was truly needed after that drive! Javier took care of every question or issue we had quickly. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary while there. Mabel and her helper set up a beautiful flower display on our bed spelling out happy anniversary that touched our hearts. DOMINGO. Again not enough words to say how great his cooking was. He even showed us his special recipe for the key lime pie! We wanted him to do all the cooking! It was tough to let him go next door! Our last day with him he made us a picnic lunch and we invited him and his family to join us at the local waterfall. A must see. It was probably one of the most beautiful sights we saw. General comments: *The 5 gallon water at the house was appreciated but thought it would be better if it was on a water cooler. The dispensing system was a bit awkward. * the bugs were terrible and we were told by several locals it has been a bad year. Even with using spray we found it hard to be out at night which was too bad as the night lighting on the grounds was beautiful and subtle. *Sept is the time many local businesses shut down for annual repairs for 1 week to 4 or 5 weeks. Many of the suggested places to eat were closed for repairs.*We had our anniversary dinner at Rum Fish which was very very good. The owner with a little help from my sister announced our anniversary and then played "our song"! * We used Omar and Niko (Belize Inland Tours) for the cave tubing and zip line tour. They were a lot of fun. It was a long drive to get to them but worth it. If you rent a car and drive down dont do like we did and get a little sedan. Originally our reservation was for a small SUV and I wish we would have stuck with that. If you are not on the main highways some of the roads are nothing but pot hole after pot hole and not much pavement. We bottomed out on almost every "Bump" or "Hump" we went over as we had 5 to a car. We didnt have enough clearance. We will be back!

Del Congo de Uvita - A Paradise on Earth!

5 of 5
This was an incredible journey! We arrived at the house, up the huge mountain and felt as if we were in paradise! The view was beyond stunning and it was so peaceful. We loved the indigenous town of Uvita. The description of the home and area was exactly as expected. Del has an amazing household team: Alex and Estefany, who are wonderfully warm, helpful and friendly people. Without them, the trip would not have been as enjoyable...they were there for our every need and we miss them! They both made sure that every detail was taken care of for us and always explained how to get to places; they cleaned the home everyday while we were gone and we always returned to fresh laundry! Thank you to Del for also ensuring that our trip was the best it could be; he stayed in contact with us throughout the trip, checking in to make sure our stay was a good one! His home couldn't have been more relaxing after a long day of horseback riding, waterfall excursions, ATV'ing, boating, and more. Not only do you have an amazing view but the home has doors that open on all sides and you feel as if you a living among nature in the rainforest. Even when it did rain, we sat out on the patio with drinks and listened to the sounds of rain and animals. We experienced seeing a slow sloth in a tree one day, toucan birds and heard the roars of monkeys. We also saw a colorful macaw bird and baby monkeys playing in a local restaurant, among the trees. There are many wonderful beaches to explore every single day along the coast - some in the national parks and better ones outside of the park - especially Play Ventana, our favorite private beach, not far from Uvita. Also make sure to check out the Tilapias El Pavon restaurant near the Punta Mala de Osa bridge - it has an amazing waterfall on the grounds (INCREDIBLE!!). We don't have too many criticisms; we didn't have any bug biting problems and the house was bug free aside from a visit or two from a gecko; the ride up and down the mountain takes some getting used to as it is somewhat steep and narrow, but we just took it slow; we even stopped at Del's small yet beautiful waterfall on the grounds. Overall the trip was the perfect adventurous type vacation you dream of and the local people are extremely friendly; you feel safe all the time and only have to relax and enjoy the beautify surroundings. We will definitely return some day. Thank you Del, Alex and Estefany for such a lovely memory! The Sparacios, New York

Just what we needed/wanted, just what we got!

5 of 5
What a spectacular 5 days spent with wonderful old and new friends doing just what we wanted all day and all night. Swimming in the beautiful pool during the heat of the day and again during the coolness of the perfect evening under a star filled sky and a jungle sparkling with fire flies. The sounds of the frogs, crickets, butterflies, birds and monkeys communicating through the evening helping us all settle down to a peaceful and comfortable night sleep. A perfect setting to be social and active or wander off to relax in a hammock, take a nap, read, listen to music, dance, sing, get a massage in one of the simple but elegantly designed casitas or in the private and tranquil treehouse-like palapa up in the sky. Nothing like waking up in the morning to the aroma of the delicious rich local coffee waiting for you in the kitchen prepared by Luis, the king of the caretakers. He will do whatever he can to make your stay as comfortable and satisfying as possible. He has a lovely wife and two sweet boys who can be adorable and engaging but very independent and invisible as well. We cooked a few wonderful meals at home and ventured down the small mountain(10 minutes)to the beach town for spectacular seafood, fine choices of Rum and wine, wonderful music, dancing and a nice stroll admiring the talented craft work of the locals. The only complaint, just not there long enough. I would return in a heartbeat and hope to have that opportunity in the near future. Thank you Don Fred, we loved your paradise, your hospitality, your generosity, your presence and hope to do get to experience it again soon!
