A little paradise!

4 of 5
My husband and I with our 2 girls (1 and 4 years old) traveled for a month across Costa Rica last year and the last week, we spent it to Stef Surf Condo...what a perfect way to finish our exceptional vacations! The place is awesome, Greg and Gladys, the owners, are so welcoming and always there to help....they make our stay just perfect! The location is perfect to visit around...there is a lot to do within 1-2 hours drive, so you can do a day trip and come back to the comfort of your rental home, jump in the pool and have a nice dinner on the patio! The condo are within walking distance of the beach and there are a lot of other beaches 5 minutes away by car. We really enjoyed our stay and are looking to come back soon :)

World Traveller

What I fantastic time I had spending a week in this wonderful, beach front property in Portrero! It started with driving down the scenic road Liberia-Portrero; the road in great condition, something not quite typical for CR. I'm really bad with the directions and keep getting lost but in this case, I quickly found the property; it was so easy to get to, on a main road, next door to the quite well known Buena Vista hotel. When I reached the house, my apprehension that it would not match the posted pictures, as it often happens, completely disappeared. It actually looked much better! Fresh looking, immaculately clean, tastefully furnished, with nice pool and beach front gardens! I made it my home very quickly:) Parked my car in the enclosed garage, through my bags in the fabulous master BR with views of both the Flamingo and Portrero beaches, grabbed my towel and jump in the ocean for a nice, long swim. Since the garden patio was so lovely, I invited friends who were staying in Flamingo beach to visit me for sunset cocktails. It was magical to see the sun setting down to a speck, blasting light over the bay. The next few days we explored our Portrero beach and few more beaches around. I highly recommend La Penca and La Dantita with its emerald waters and white sand surrounded by lush jungle, within just 10-20 min drive from Portrero. For lunch and dinner we went to Flamingo and Tamarindo, a little bit of driving around brought an additional sense of adventure. It was hard to leave the property after so much fun and great moments. The only consolation was that for sure I was to come back and bring friends and family!

LOOK NO FURTHER....location is everything !!

5 of 5
This is a popular part of town, lots of tourists (even though it was low season) in the area and we can see why they rent Right Here. It's close to just about everything you'll need (Super 2001- a local grocery store, Tico Cafe- a great place for really good coffee and breakfast/ pastries, surf shops that rent surf boards for $5, the bank for exchanging money, La Baula- which the most beautiful restaurant with great pizza and fruit drinks, if you are ok with walking about 10 minutes more you can try Soda el buen comer- local Tico Food for cheap and our favorite was Kahiki's-closest to the beach and great pineapple pork burritos-the best we've ever tasted). There are so many other restaurants we ate at too during our two weeks but these left a lasting impression and were all close to the rental. You must try Spout too if you have car. Great Lunch place. All of this made the location simply perfect. For us, the kitchen was great for small meals and storing leftovers, but you can easily do much of your cooking here- the kitchen was adequately stocked and a pleasure to fix food in with the beautiful granite. The owner and RPM (the management company) were more than accommodating. The VRBO description is accurate -the pictures don't really depict the beauty of the the actual town home- the home is decorated quite well with locally inspired decor-just lovely. Everything was well maintained and clean-the cleaning staff will refresh your towels and linens and were accommodating when needed. We were there to explore and have fun in and around Tamarindo. This location gave us an opportunity to enjoy the best of everything we had on our Itinerary. We were here during low season and though it rained some, staying in was comfortable and pleasurable and an excuse to relax and enjoy the beauty of the home itself. The internet was reliable to check emails and post pics. I think we slept too good here. The location was away from the hustle and bustle, so quiet and peaceful. Most morning the only noise you'll here is birds and monkeys. Security/upkeep of the property was great. We parked our car just outside the complex and it was safe- we always felt safe, even walking late at night, back home from dinner -it helped to have headlamps, some of the streets are dark. The property is taken care of quite well-you won't be disappointed. The location, to us, came pretty close to perfect and that's what actually made the vacation a true Costa Rican Experience.
