Beautiful View

5 of 5
Three of us stayed here the last week of Sept. 2014. The view was spectacular. We really enjoyed the deck and the view. The location was great, close enough to town, for shopping and dinner, but far enough away for the quiet and beauty of the island. We had a fabulous week in Dominica and can't wait to return. The rental looks just like the pictures and met all of our expectations. Mark was helpful in arranging transportation and car rentals even with our travel delays and also was very responsive prior to our booking and during the planning stages.

We felt like we were back home again

5 of 5
Staying in this Bungalow felt like coming home. My husband and I lived in the Colony 30 years ago (he was born there – my family was there for 5 years) and were so excited to have our adult children come see what it was like to live there. Thanks so much, Erna and Theo, for making us feel so welcome. We loved every aspect of staying in the bungalow. From walking in the door to seeing the beautiful ocean right off the patio, feeling the wind on our faces while swinging in the hammocks, sitting out on the patio and just listening to the early morning sounds or the late night waves, comfortable beds and spacious living, everything we could have needed in the kitchen and more. Everything shown in the listing was exactly as it was depicted. The men enjoyed fishing off the dock and grilling, while the ladies enjoyed the sun and water. We did our best to keep sand out of the house The outdoor shower and hose were perfect for that goal. The beach chairs were wonderfully comfortable and used in various places on the island. There was so much to do that we will, without a doubt, be back to do it again, but for longer, and next time just spend more time relaxing. We rented an SUV from Econo and were able to see many of the places we used to visit (and not all paved roads!). We do recommend Arubaville as another place to go eat and enjoy a sunset. From a very selfish standpoint we don’t want to recommend the home to anyone so we can ensure we can rent it again next year, but for Erna and Theo we give it high marks and cannot imagine anyone not enjoying every minute of their stay there. The owners were available if needed, and so gracious. Thank you!

Jurassic Park. Is. Amazing!

5 of 5
Jurassic Park is perfect! My boyfriend and I came to the DR for our one year anniversary and knew we wanted to stay somewhere off the beaten path that wasn't an all inclusive resort. If you want somewhere that is peaceful, tranquil, mixed with adventure and a bucket full of AWESOME, Jurassic Park couldn't meet your needs any better. We arrived late - we flew into and rented a car in Punta Cana. Then drove the 5 and a half hour trek to Las Terrenas. Dominic and his loving (and adorable) family welcomed us right away. Of course we were hungry and Dominic made a call to a neighbor, and arranged for us and another couple to have dinner. We walked 5 minutes down the hill to her tiny bungalow of a restaurant and she prepared us an amazing spread. Un poco de todo, a little of everything, and it was some of the best local fare we ate on the trip. In addition to her place, there are tons like it and grocer's, fresh fruit stands, and shops downtown for anything you could want or need. Downtown is only a 5-10 minute car/quad/motorbike ride or 20 minute (beautiful mind you) walk away. Dominic and Helena are the best at arranging excursions! A local guide (Fausto) will take you on personalized day trips and meet you at JP. We went with two other couples staying at the property on a boat trip across the bay to the Natural Park. We explored caves, ate freshly caught and prepared fish and shrimp, relaxed on the sunny beaches of the fishing village, and more! One couple even stayed behind with Fausto and slept in the larger cave! In addition to Dominic and Helena being excellent resources for directions, ideas, and good company, there are excursion companies downtown that will take you about anywhere. Cody and I rented a quad for a day and hired a guide that took us and another family vacationing around the "coffee route" to explore the coffee plantation, cigar factory, waterfalls by horseback, and more local eats. If you can find a guide that will take you around as a small group it is well worth it! At night, there are clubs and bars to go to. Cody and I stayed in most nights to enjoy the peace and tranquility Jurassic Park also offers. We would relax by candlelight on our front porch. As far as safety is concerned - I NEVER felt unsafe and frankly Cody and I never locked our bungalow. Dominic and Helena - Thank you again for sharing your perfect slice of jungle heaven. We can't wait to see you again!
