From the moment we arrived we knew that we had landed in paradise. The beauty of St. Lucia can be seen from the plane. Clavie, the driver welcomed us with a warm St. Lucian welcome as soon as we exited the airport. He was very gracious and kind and provided great information about the island as he drove us to the villa. We instantly felt welcome and at home. After a 45 minute drive through the various villages and beautiful countryside of the island we pulled on to the property and the grand entrance which consists of a stone wall and beautiful wooden gate we knew that we had arrived in paradise. My first impression was what magic and beauty lies beyond these doors. I soon discovered that it was beyond my expectations, the photos although beautiful dont compare to the majestic beauty experienced in real life. The gardens invite you to enter into another world, one of relaxation and natural beauty of the island. A historic retreat and majestic island fortress of your own. We were greeted by the villa staff upon our arrival. We met Cynthia, the housekeeper and Terry the gardener who welcomed us with big smiles and open arms. Cynthia proceeded to show us around the villa. I recall stepping onto the large deck that spans the length of the living room and seeing the jaw dropping view of the majestic pitons. The villa which is constructed of large stone walls and mahogany doors fit perfectly in the surroundings with its plantation style construction. It offered the beauty and sophistication of a 5 star resort but the feel of the villa was warm and welcoming and felt like a home away from home. The open layout allowed us to open many of the shuttered door panels connecting the indoors and outdoors seamlessly. Our bedroom which was tastefully decorated had its own tiled deck that opened to the Caribbean Sea and the awe inspiring view of the Pitons. The additional bedroom suites each had its own private deck overlooking the beautifully maintained gardens. We were welcomed to our vacation with a welcome basket filled with a variety of fresh local fruits, a bottle of wine and a bottle of St. Lucian rum that I am still trying to find online with no luck. Cynthia had prepared an amazing creole home cooked meal which consisted of curry chicken with rice, salad and soup. The pool offers a tranquil beauty of its own, private and surrounded by a lush variety of tropical plants and flowers, Highly recommended and we cannot wait to go back next year!
