Beautiful location, spacious and comfortable.

5 of 5
Our group of nine had a "pre-game" 5-night stay here before a four-night stay for a concert run at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana. The value and price for the location, space and privacy would be extremely hard to beat. We had a group of nine and everyone had plenty of space. The upstairs master bedroom with beach/ocean views out shuttered windows was particularly nice. The sound of waves crashing is all you hear at night from the main house. The overflow outbuilding where we slept was not quite as nice, and the septic system created a terrible smell in the outbuilding bathroom which you could also smell from the bedroom. The outbuilding shower drain was clogged upon arrival and was not up to standards you might expect traveling elsewhere. Coupled with a busted a/c, the outbuilding could stand some improvements to increase guests comfort. The caretaker Santiago was pleasant and accommodating. He even went so far to obtain a local pig from a family farm for us and assist with an authentic beachside pig roast, a priceless experience. If you speak Spanish, Santiago can give you all the local information you would ever need. The beach location is stellar. The river flowing to the ocean just a fifteen minute walk down the beach is a great spot. You can watch the sunrise over the ocean a short stroll in the other direction. Having your own private beach and house next door to where everyone else is paying exorbitant all inclusive fees for shared beach access is pretty sweet, you can't beat it. The kitchen was fine, our chef brought his own tools and fed us like royalty on locally sourced foods and the patio/covered common area were wonderful for group meals. Santiago kept the backyard immaculate and the grounds made a killer LED bocce ball court at night and Frisbee field at daytime. You can stroll to and from the house and the beach in bare feet all day long, no hurries no worries. The Wi-Fi is a mobile hotspot and was spotty and slow, but it did work. Overall our group was extremely happy with our experience but ready to move onto our "posher" accommodations at the Hard Rock upon the final morning. The house could accommodate a few more people than our group of nine but depending on the group might get a bit crowded after that. We would definitely book a future trip. Villijant was gracious, professional and easy to work with, communicative and responsive throughout the whole process of booking internationally.

Relaxing vacation in excellent location

5 of 5
Georgette, the owner, was very helpful, answering my numerous emails promptly. The apartment is in an excellent location, at the end of Las Ballenas beach in a secure gated community, with beautiful lush gardens. The apartment is just like the photos, fully equipped, new appliances and beautifully decorated. Luxurious towels in the bathrooms, great shower pressure with lots of hot water. The hot tub is kept impeccably clean by Franco. There is a gas BBQ on the patio. The large pool was not busy when we were there, it’s kept very clean. Daily housekeeping is included but we opted for twice a week, and Yaquira, our housekeeper, even did the laundry we had in the hamper. Internet was intermittent, but this isn’t unique to the apartment. We had the most success with it early morning. There is a restaurant/beachfront bar called Sol Y Mar a five minute walk away, and you can walk up the beach (and adjacent interlock roadway) where you will pass other restaurants and in 30-40 minutes you are in the main area of Las Terrenas, with many restaurants and shops, including Pueblo de los Pescadores. Right across the street is a Cambio where you can exchange dollars for pesos. There are also two supermarkets, Lindo and Pola about another 15 min walk up the main street. Driving is not for the faint of heart. With no traffic lights, everything just flows, so go with the flow, don’t hesitate and you’ll be OK. We rented the Polaris RZR (side by side) available through Stephanie, shopped for groceries, and visited Playa Bonita, Playa Coson and Playa Punta Popi. Playa Coson is a must – a pristine beach, big waves, and great local food at Luis’ restaurant (shack) on the beach. Stephanie, our concierge was excellent, always there for you. We were given a phone to contact her if necessary. She had an early morning appointment away from Las Terrenas when we were leaving, and due to car problems could not make it back in time to say goodbye. She called us to apologize and said that she will see us on the way to the airport – and she did. We said goodbye with hugs like we were saying goodbye to a new friend. We would definitely return to AquaMare. The service standard from Georgette the owner, to Stephanie and her on-site team was the best – professional and caring. Las Terrenas is a melting pot of French, Italian, Spanish and Dominican people living together. We met other Canadians at our complex who are there for five months…..maybe next time.....

Nothing but the best!!

Like everyone says it looks just like the picture! Nice pool and relaxation area on the outside and exceptional accommodations on the inside. Felt very safe in the area. Anita the housekeeper cooked us breakfast on one morning and it was amazing! Will be returning next year!
