Stunning ocean views and big pool

4 of 5
Our family of six had a very relaxing vacation at Manfred's house. His son, Matthew picked us up from the airport and he was very patient while we were waiting at the Avis counter. They didn't have our minivan and for the first day they gave us two cars which was very inconvenient. Matt brought us to a grocery store which was very helpful. The villa is away from it all...we didn't hear any voices for a whole week long. Only wind and waves, awesome. The views were spectacular. We didn't use the beach because it seemed a little scary for our kids, but we knew beforehand that it'll be rocky and we hadn't planned on taking a bath there anyway. There are so many wonderful beaches on the island. We took the barge to St. John twice because we loved the National Park there, the trails and the more secluded beaches. Our kids did the Junior Ranger Program at the visitor center and made the oath for their badge - fun! We hiked and visited Annaberg Sugar Mill which was so interesting. At the house we really appreciated the space, the beach towels, the lounge chairs, enough pots, pans, silverware etc. We even had some liquor and we made cocktails every night. The sky was amazing - so many stars. The only thing that should be improved are the sliding doors because they cannot be used right now. The climate on the island is super, around 81°F. We didn't have to use the AC at all because the breeze was so nice. We've visited several Caribbean islands so far but this was our favorite. Beautiful beaches, great hills & views and historic sites. Thanks so much to Manfred, Matthew & Margie (thanks for the coffee from Panama) for a wonderful time!

A Wonderfully Peaceful Space

5 of 5
Once we arrived Philippe was there to greet us with his lovely staff! We had a bit of a trek and he was there once we arrived with open arms. The house was even more beautiful than the pictures. We had 8 people in our group and it was the perfect size for everyone to be together yet not on top of each other. Enough space for everyone to choose an area to relax. Andrea the housekeeper and cook was absolutely amazing. She was so warm and welcoming to us. Her food is out of this world delicious. Highly recommend to let her make your menu as everything she made was amazing. Victor the maintenance man was also there who was very sweet. He did our grocery shopping and provided us with whatever we needed. Whenever we left we felt as if we were leaving Mom and Dad. The beach is just down the hill and it is gorgeous. Town is a 15min walk or 5min drive. Great little town with shops and great restaurants. Philippe was a great source for knowledge of the area. He guided us to local beaches that had great waves. He also took us on a fabulous one of a kind tour. He definitely knows the beauty of the area and highlighted it perfectly. He was always available whenever we needed anything. It was a great holiday for all of our guests.

Paradise At The Bird

5 of 5
The Bird or Paradise in Anguilla is even more beautiful than what we expected from the online photographs. We traveled with 3 other couples, flew into St. Martin and took a boat over to Anguilla, arranged by the concierge. We were met at the dock and driven to the Bird. After a long day of travel, we enjoyed the magnificent view of turquoise waters and warm breeze as the chef prepared drinks and delicious island cuisine to welcome us to Anguilla. We had the villa to ourselves and it was wonderful. Attention is paid to every detail from the Bulgari bath products to the cheerful and helpful staff. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The chef prepared breakfast every morning, and then we hopped around the island enjoying beaches, beach bars and restaurants at Mead's Bay, Sandy Ground, Shoal Bay and Crocus Bay. A member of our group enjoyed driving--this is a British island, so one drives on the left--but we were told the Bird has a personal driver available for future guests. The Bird's beach is only a 5 minute walk and we were also happy to swim and lounge there. We would recommend Scilly Cay for lobster and crayfish, Straw Hat for dinner, Bankie Banx for drinks and music, Elvis for drinks, and Blanchards Beach Bar and DaVida for lunch and the Pump Hose for music and dancing. St. Bart's is only 15 minutes by private plane and makes a fun midweek day excursion. We would highly recommend the Bird of Paradise and Anguilla. Pack lightly because it's a very casual island.
