We were delighted to find ourselves just a couple blocks from Mont Royal where on our first morning my husband climbed to the top of the "mountain" on pleasant trails and then our family spent the afternoon enjoying Tam Tams, the Sunday drumming event in the park. Circus and "acro" folk turn out as well and we loved watching people work out on slack lines and silks and practice hand to hand skills.
We'd arrived to attend the jazz festival and found the walk from the apt. to Place des Arts easy and comfortable. And we often walked Rue Prince Arthur to nearby coffee shops and to take in the street scene on St Laurent. Among the lovely surprises about this apartment were how quiet it was, despite being amidst so much activity and access. Even with a party going on next door or firecrackers around the summer holidays, if we closed the windows, any outside noise went away. The street itself is quiet, with minimal traffic. And as a lower level apt. it stayed pretty cool even on hot days. Standing fans, provided, kept us cool as well.
The apartment itself is a little smaller than it looks in the photos but had everything we needed, just in a compact way. One especially appealing feature is the window seat where my daughter spent many hours reading. As we stayed 5 nights, having free access to a washer and dryer was much appreciated. Everything worked, any calls we made to the apt. manager were answered promptly. Everything was clean and welcoming. Street parking was unproblematic, perhaps because it was summer, with fewer McGill students around. Closest restaurant is the awesomely delightful Lola Rosa, a vegetarian haven with decadent desserts. Overall, this apartment was a great value and I would absolutely rent here again on a future trip to Montreal. Without question, staying at this apt. enhanced our visit!
