CRACKING BASE TO EXPLORE THE CITY

5 of 5
Found Posh digs after a few hours surfing the web and it was well worth the effort. First time in Toronto but we will be back and very likely seek out Posh Digs again as easy to find, lovely quiet area (yet 10 mins from plenty to do on College or Harbord). Good parking too so leave the wheels and use either street cat (get it from Bathurst about 100 yards away) or brill value subway 10 mins walk north and its about a 10/15 min ride down to Union via one change. PS. I'd bin the car for the whole time as driving is a mare!! Posh Digs itself is very comfy, clean with all mod cons and setting it all up very easy and hassle free from the owners. Big plus this as other VBRO renters wanted paying by secure cheque which was a pain! Loads of good places to eat in both College (south by 10 mins walk) or 10 mins to the top of Markham with some really funky bars and restaurants....check out the Southern Accent Restaurant, cracking grub. We holidayed with our two girls and their boyfriends (all in their early 20's) and they had plenty to keep them entertained at night on College, Sneaky Dee's Bar being one. Posh Digs may be in Little Italy but there's plenty of variety close by with Korean, Chinese, South American and Greek all close by. Posh Digs is advertised as being in a very quiet and safe area and I would totally agree. In fact the whole of Toronto has the same atmosphere and we never at any point felt insecure or even uncomfortable anywhere or anytime within the city so travelling in the evenings or later still is not a problem so don't miss out on the free entertainment on the Harbour front at night and all the bars and restaurants that come with it. Toronto is a lovely friendly and clean city and despite the building work going on downtown we'd love to go back. Highlights for us being CN Tower, St Lawrence Market (Kensington aint up to much!), Toronto Island, Harbour Front (and the Amsterdam Bar and all its beers!) and surprisingly for me the Eaton Centre and Ice Hockey Hall of Fame! Oh and Ps, did I mention the traffic! Just beware at rush hour to give yourself plenty of time.....particularly if heading to the airport for that flight home!

PERFECT FOR A COUPLE STAYING IN OLD MONTREAL.

5 of 5
My wife and I stayed in this apartment for 4 nights and could not have been happier. Perfect accommodations for the two of us. Yes, there are no curtains in the living area, but the bedroom has a thick curtain and two solid wood sliding doors separates the bedroom from the living area. The windows face north and you can see all the way to Mont Royal. The apartment has a flat screen television, speedy wifi, and a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The bathroom is fairly small, but there were only two of us and we made do. The shower is great. As for the building itself, it is a corporate rentals kind of place, situated directly above the Embassy Suites hotel. We were literally 1.5 blocks from the square containing the Notre Dame Basilica. We LOVED LOVED LOVED the location. If you stay here, make sure to visit the Terrace Bar on top of the Hotel Place d'Armes. Order "the cucumber drink"; you won't be sorry. The Terrace Bar overlooks the square I mentioned earlier. Great spot 2 blocks from the apartment. You are about 5 blocks from the shopping on Ste Catherine and about 3 blocks from Chinatown. We felt very safe in this area and I strongly recommend it due to its close proximity to Old Montreal. As compared with other hotels and rental properties, the value for this apartment is fantastic. Overall, we were very happy with the clean accommodations and the helpful owner. I arrived my first day and could not get the television or the wifi to work. I called the owner on the house telephone and she told me exactly how to reset the satellite box. It worked great thereafter. As for the wifi, the service provider had plugged it into a faulty electrical outlet. She told me to plug it into the surge protector and, after that, it worked just fine. Wifi is a must in Montreal, especially when coming from the U.S. It allowed us to check our text messages, emails, and research restaurants, bars, etc. As the other reviewer mentioned, I think this property would be cramped for 4 people. It could be done, but I would not recommend it. That said, for a couple visiting Montreal for the first time, we could not have chosen a better property.

EVERYTHING WE NEEDED IN A GREAT LOCATION

4 of 5
We were delighted to find ourselves just a couple blocks from Mont Royal where on our first morning my husband climbed to the top of the "mountain" on pleasant trails and then our family spent the afternoon enjoying Tam Tams, the Sunday drumming event in the park. Circus and "acro" folk turn out as well and we loved watching people work out on slack lines and silks and practice hand to hand skills. We'd arrived to attend the jazz festival and found the walk from the apt. to Place des Arts easy and comfortable. And we often walked Rue Prince Arthur to nearby coffee shops and to take in the street scene on St Laurent. Among the lovely surprises about this apartment were how quiet it was, despite being amidst so much activity and access. Even with a party going on next door or firecrackers around the summer holidays, if we closed the windows, any outside noise went away. The street itself is quiet, with minimal traffic. And as a lower level apt. it stayed pretty cool even on hot days. Standing fans, provided, kept us cool as well. The apartment itself is a little smaller than it looks in the photos but had everything we needed, just in a compact way. One especially appealing feature is the window seat where my daughter spent many hours reading. As we stayed 5 nights, having free access to a washer and dryer was much appreciated. Everything worked, any calls we made to the apt. manager were answered promptly. Everything was clean and welcoming. Street parking was unproblematic, perhaps because it was summer, with fewer McGill students around. Closest restaurant is the awesomely delightful Lola Rosa, a vegetarian haven with decadent desserts. Overall, this apartment was a great value and I would absolutely rent here again on a future trip to Montreal. Without question, staying at this apt. enhanced our visit!
