Perfect rental home for large group of friends

5 of 5
Agree with nice write up by Jenny L (see below) - She did all the typing for me because I got married in Monte Rio as well and we made a long getaway weekend of it, with friends and close family. My group especially enjoyed hanging out in the kitchen and using the long picnic style farm table as a gathering point with great views of the river and mountains. The house has a rustic home-like feel, not luxurious or extravagant, but comfortable with character. There were plenty of towels for our stay. For big group of friends or a family reunion, I think it's a good value in a great location. The Highland Dell Lodge is next door and they have a nice restaurant and bar if you don't feel like cooking or driving. Jenny L's review: "I got married in Monte Rio and we reserved two of the local hotels for guests while the wedding party stayed in The Big Yellow House smack dab between the two hotels. It worked out perfectly - and a great way to see guests outside the ceremony/reception - we'd run into to them walking down the quiet street, it felt like we were all neighbors. The big yellow house has all you could ask for for a long weekend: a huge porch/balcony overlooking the Russian River, many bathrooms, plenty of beds, a huge kitchen with a great dining table/benches for large groups. Parking out front. Highly recommended for large groups."

Perfect Girls Weekend Heaven

5 of 5
5 girlfriends spent an incredibly comfortable weekend at the Elements and we absolutely loved it. The property is stunning, there are just so many different spots to chill and breath in the fresh air. Loved the soaker tub, especially at night when all the redwoods are lit up. We slept late, cooked a lot and drank a lot of great wine. Though it wasn't the plan, we ate at home every evening. The kitchen and pantry is very well appointed. Michael left a basket of produce for us and that ended up saving us Friday night when a girlfriend whipped up butternut squash soup! Enjoyed the little yoga studio in the mornings. Great quality sheets and towels. We slept 2 in the master in the main house, 2 in the guest house and 1 in the little cabin. You are a good 30-45 minute drive to wineries, though I've been to Sonoma Co many times and feel like you have to drive a lot regardless of where you stay. The property is incredibly private. Loved the fire pit, outdoor seating and hammock. Sophie's Cellers was a great stop with helpful recommendations, about 10-15 minutes away. Michael was very responsive to all our questions. Would highly recommend!

Very Relaxing!

4 of 5
We arrived for a week of relaxation and wine tasting in Sonoma Wine Country culminating with a family wedding at Cline Cellars. We booked The Black Sterling Vineyard Estate sight unseen and were happy with our choice. The house and location was perfect for our party of 14 two of which were children under three years old. The house was well appointed. Always something to do as we enjoyed the pool, hot tub, pool table, available games and venturing to the stables to see the horses and feed them carrots. To our surprise and delight the resident horse named Sterling even repaid the visit by coming to the yard to see us as he is allowed to roam the property. Beautiful morning walks provided much wild life to see. We encountered two small problems, notified the owner and they were taken care of promptly. The property is close to the downtown area, wineries and restaurants. Grocery shopping not too far away and a local farm stand close by. Things that could be improved are: the wi-fi/internet access was limited and would not permit access to an office VPN; the air conditioning upstairs was inadequate (but opening the windows solved the problems for sleeping at night). Overall, a great time was had by all.
