5-night stay in sunny San Francisco

4 of 5
Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The 8 beds in the house (4 queen-sized + 2 bunk beds) was a good number for our 9-people group. Nice garden space though we didn't get much of a chance to use it. Only 2 of the 3 bathrooms had showers so be prepared to be organised in the morning/night if you have a large group like ours. Plenty of towels provided! Kitchen/dining room/living room all well-proportioned for what we needed out of them. We had a bit of trouble finding the lights in the basement, where we needed to use the washing machine - the lights at the top of the stairs didn't work and we had to go down to the basement in order to find the working switch, which wasn't in an obvious place. Wi-fi in the house was a little slow, though this tended to be the case for most of San Francisco. TV was great! The house was fairly clean and tidy when we arrived, though we did find large smudge marks on windows. The Haight-Ashbury area had a pretty retro feel to it, true to it's psychedelic roots. A handful of mainstream stores and food places within reach (e.g. American Apparel, Ben n Jerry's, Whole Foods Market, McDonald's) but mostly local boutiques and small food places. The 'Coffee to the People' cafe right next door to the house provided nice food and drink with friendly staff (try the smoothies and mushroom quiche). Public transport into the centre was very good - the bus stop was just around the corner and less than a minute's walk from the house, where the number 6 and 71 buses into town ran regularly. The homeless community was quite notable in the local area, though this was also the case in the centre (around Union Square) and we did not encounter any trouble during our stay.

Excellent home for family vacation!

5 of 5
This lovely victorian home strikes an amazing balance between authentic-San Francisco, artistic touches and kid friendliness. Who would think you could combine fine art, antiques and thoughtful childproofing into one home? We were quite impressed. The location is great - in Hayes Valley/Alamo Square - as a jumping off point for parks, sights in Upper and Lower Haight, Golden Gate Park and is overall very centrally located. The house has wonderful charm and suited our family (two grandparents, two parents and a 3- and 1-year old) perfectly. Lots of toys for our boys and a layout which gave everyone space to spread out. *Very* thoughtful owners who really cared about a comfortable stay and a memorable experience in the city. We would recommend this house to all family and friends and would definitely stay again.

Perfect for my family

5 of 5
I traveled to San Francisco for a week with my three children, a teenager and 2 20's year old. The house was perfect for us as it is large and gave us plenty of room. The house is as described, very clean, well furnished and maintained, plenty of linens and the kitchen has everything you could use and more. We had great weather so sat out on the patio which was very nice. There is a washer and dryer which was helpful. Another large bonus is the parking spots which saved us from looking for street parking - very convenient and a treat. The house is located an easy walk to Japantown and surrounding areas; there are buses within a few blocks which will take you to anywhere else in the city. There is a Whole Foods market which is an easy walk and we used on several occasions, also a Walgreens right down the street. The mornings we did not feel like making coffee, there is a Starbucks, Peets and Deli on Van Ness, again a couple of blocks. We had dinner several nights in Japantown and I wish I could remember the names of the restaurants as we had delicious sushi and noodle dishes. San Francisco is a wonderful city with so much to do and our trip was even more special by staying in this beautiful Victorian home. Thank you to the owners for sharing it with us.
