Brilliant Location With Rooftop Terrace!

4 of 5
My husband and I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for my daughter and son-in-law and two friends. My daughter and son-in- law stayed a few night in the second bedroom during our 10 day stay. Both cars (our rented small SUV and their compact car) fit in the garage, parked tandem. Be sure to pull in your side mirrors, it is a very tight fit, but great to have secure parking. The kitchen was just fine to prepare the big meal, oven worked properly. Do an inventory of all pots and pans and spices, etc. before you attempt to pull this off. Not all basics were there, but I did not expect that. The condo unit is on four levels (garage- go up a flight to bedrooms/bathrooms-go up a flight to living room/kitchen/powder room- go up a flight to rooftop terrace; so be prepared for stairs. The view from the roof is spectacular, you can see the whole LA basin. We wanted to watch all the football games on the large screen tv, and did. Plenty of seating in the living room. The location may be the best part....we walked to the beach (one block down a walk street!) and there are many restaurants to go to. Our favorites were James Beach (scene from the movie I Love You Man filmed there) and Canal Club, both same owner and kitty corner from each other on 60 North Venice Blvd. just two blocks off the beach and a few blocks north of the condo. You will have to drive to a supermarket, although there are some convenience stores you can walk to. We are walkers, so we walked up to Abbott Kinney, which I recommend as well as Main Street. ALSO get coffee/sandwiches at The Cow's End on Washington. Really good, and the clientele are entertaining. The condo is surprisingly quiet considering it is so close to the beach. A few negatives, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. Cleaning could be more thorough. I realize a rooftop is difficult to keep clean, but I would have to wash off all the chairs and table in order to use them, and that is not what I go on vacation for. The bedding and pillows needs to be better quality. Sleeping in 100% polyester is like sleeping in Saran wrap. (The towels were GREAT!) the master bedroom mattress was fine, I didn't test the guest room. I am not a fan of wall to wall carpeting near a beach. The shower door in the master bath is reluctant to move and makes a horrible noise. Paint could use freshening, and (hey, I know this is picky, but....) introduce another color beyond the beige everywhere. Fix those things and a resounding 5 stars!

Great place!

5 of 5
To echo previous reviewers, great place in an excellent location. The apartment is a very short walk from the beach and along a stretch of Venice Beach that was relaxed and quiet. There were a number of restaurants and convenience stores within a short walking distance. The location was also only 15-20 minutes from LAX via Lincoln Boulevard. The property was clean and well-maintained. The kitchen is as described, well laid out and fully stocked with necessary pots/pans/utensils. The managers were very responsive to any issues that arose, quickly addressing a minor plumbing problem and in general always available. They also provided a number of additional amenities, including beach chairs/towels and a number of bikes in the garage available to ride. They even left us a bottle of champagne for New Year's on check-in! Two very minor points about the property description. 1) There are definitely only two bedrooms despite some parts of the property description stating three bedrooms. It looks like there used to be two bedrooms next to the outdoor deck that were converted into one extra large master suite with three beds. I would not call a living room a bedroom. 2) Although the property lists two parking spots, they are tandem parking spots in a single row and very tight. We were able to fit a Toyota Prius and a Chevy Malibu into the garage with only a few inches to spare. Don't count on fitting two standard sized cars into this space. Overall, I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a well-maintained, comfortable apartment in a great location run by a very responsive management team.
