Sisters Get-away

5 of 5
My sister and I finally took our much-delayed retirement trip, spending it in Sausalito on this charming houseboat. We were in Sausalito the third week of August and the weather was perfection every single day. The houseboat was charming and comfortable. We enjoyed the mornings on the deck with our coffee, watching the fog clear, and the evenings on the deck with our happy hour cocktails. Occasionally our friendly "harbor cat" would come by for a visit, pawing at the door to be let in and then curl up in a chair for a nap. We (and the cat, I suspect) felt totally at home. This is a lovely alternative to a hotel. In fact, I'll not likely opt for something as mundane as a hotel room again. This is a great way to livel like a local. Thank you Michele for everything!

This Property Is Terrific!

5 of 5
This property is truly a "turn key" site for any occasion, and the owners (husband and wife) are really nice people who not only care about their guests but are also very available to meet your needs. We can highly recommend Deer Crossing Inn to anyone who wants an easily accessible location with a comfortable, out-of-the-way feel. We did a lot of online research in order to find the right place for our intimate wedding, and we're really glad that we located Deer Crossing Inn - which turned out to be close to where we live and exactly what we were looking for! With schedules to coordinate for people coming from all over the country to attend our mid-week event, it was important to have everyone together to enjoy a few days of time that we never get to spend with each other, and this place was perfect. No matter what sort of event you're planning, this is "the kind" spot, and it's surprisingly close to all of the San Francisco Bay Area attractions - yet because it's at the end of Eden Canyon Road, you get a feeling of being "off the beaten path," and the surroundings are really lovely. In addition, the owners have constructed a Western motif that's charming, not only with the clever and picturesque grounds but also the interior design, all of which leaves no one wanting for any of the comforts of home. (We would have reviewed this place sooner, but the truth of the matter is that our wedding did not go well and has left us with sad memories - thank God NONE of the problems were in ANY way related to Deer Crossing Inn - and the actual date is one year earlier, but the system would not allow it.) Deer Crossing Inn has everything that folks could need to make their stay a "home away from home," and Cindy is a wonderful host who has a realistic understanding of both people and her job. The home is very clean and exceptionally well-appointed, the attention to detail is evident everywhere, the grounds are nicely maintained and comfortable, there's plenty of privacy (and parking), and the entire place is spacious yet cozy. Everyone in our party really liked the environment, from the hot tub to the fantastic kitchen to the fine furnishings to the decks and patios; the downstairs game room and wet bar were one of the main attractions, and all of the rooms are super inviting! My husband and I were very impressed with Deer Crossing Inn and its owners, who raised their family in the home, and we can definitely say that this vacation rental is top notch.

INCREDIBLY GREAT GET-AWAY!!!

5 of 5
I have lived in Sausalito for many years and recently found myself in a situation where I needed a place to stay while friends and family were staying on my houseboat. So, of course, I decided to stay nearby the place I love so much and went to VRBO to see what other houseboats might be available. How lucky I was to come across this one. Being a bit spoiled, I wanted something close to the amenities I enjoy in my home. To my great surprise and satisfaction, I found even much more. Though it didn't have as expansive a view as I enjoy, I loved the cozy lagoon feeling this houseboat offered. This floating home is one of the nicest I've been in -- very clean, well furnished, excellent television and music components, complete with nice towels, sheets, shampoos, soaps, (even two very nice bathrobes), etc. The kitchen is perfectly equipped with any appliance one might need. Though it is very close to my houseboat, I felt like I was away on a very special vacation and totally enjoyed every minute on it. Strangely, as I opened the "Review" section here, I noticed a less-than-favorable review from a previous visitor and would like to say that I for one disagree with the minor complaints listed. Most all of the houseboats (almost 500) are located at the north end of Sausalito and are close to freeway access. Myself and my neighbors absolutely adore our unique lifestyle and have adapted to (or ignored) any freeway noise. The payoff comes from the peaceful beauty of the water, the bird life (especially at low tide), the wonderful sunrises and sunsets, and the easy access to the city, Mill Valley, Tiburon, etc. This is a very comfortable houseboat and one of the best offered on VRBO. Some people may have a different idea of houseboat living, but having been a houseboat dweller for more than 25 years now, I can honestly highly recommend this houseboat to you for a very pleasant experience of life on our beautiful bay. ENJOY!!! Susan D.
