Wonderful Home

5 of 5
This was a perfect place for our group on our annual outing. It was very impressive from the moment we turned into the property...beautiful vineyards and fantastic grounds. The home has so many places to gather to eat, visit, or just sit and enjoy the Redwoods all around the house and the sound of the water in the distance. The kitchen was completely stocked with any appliance or dish you would ever need. The owner and the person taking care of the home were so friendly and helpful and they did everything they could to make us comfortable, even gathering a dozen eggs from the chickens for our breakfast! Highly recommended!

Perfect Place

5 of 5
My wife and I stayed at Villa Montara for 3 days recently and it was everything we expected and more. The home's interior has a unique artistic style that was both rustic and refined with spectacular views framed by the windows. The grounds were excellent with beautiful views from the home's cliff side perch. We enjoyed the music system in the house and the hot tub's setting at night with a clear sky and a glass of wine. We went to nearby Montara Beach and the water was cold but invigorating. Swimming here is not for the faint of heart; the surf break is strong and the beach steep, resulting in a strong undertow. But the beach is very scenic, surrounded by cliffs. Our daughter lives in the bay area and Villa Montara is close enough to make a very comfortable 35-40 min drive back and forth. Despite being near Highway 1, the feeling you have behind the walls of the grounds is one of solitude and serenity. We hope to return and I would recommend it to anyone.

A Very Special Place

5 of 5
We spent a month in Villa Golden Gate, and it was wonderful. The views are, indeed, absolutely jaw-dropping; and amazingly, they change dramatically with the time of day or weather. Yet they are truly equaled by the beauty of the villa itself (meticulously designed by the owner Sandra), with its vaulted spaces and outdoor terraces. As noted in another review, the villa is rather like a penthouse, as Sandra and her assistant live on the floor below, though totally separately. And they both go out of their way to be unobtrusive yet responsive to any request immediately. It is definitely hotel service in a villa rental. The main living space is large and open, with a bedroom suite and luxurious bath, living room, dining area, eat-in kitchen, laundry, powder room and office, all with fantastic views. We had friends visit, and made use of the 2nd bedroom (and full bath) and living room sleep sofa. This 2nd bedroom is totally separate, on the lower level, and is accessed via the front terrace and outdoor steps. It is large and can be set up as a king size bed or two twins. The living room sleep sofa was reported to be very comfortable. The villa's location is really ideal for visiting local Marin towns, the coastal regions and wine country. It's also an easy walk into town (if you don't mind steep hills and steps), where you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks at any number of restaurants, shop, go for a run, or hop a ferry to San Fran or Angel Island. Regardless of your activities, I guarantee you will be anxious to return "home" to this piece of paradise. We were certainly sad to have our month here end, but we are comforted by the hope that we can return to this very special place in the future! The sleep sofa was, as reported to us, quite comfortable.
