Relaxing Hideaway

5 of 5
The cottage is enclosed in the back yard of the owner's house. The hideaway feels safe and secluded and ideal for our pets to roam around in. There is a large oak tree, fruit trees and shrubs in the garden that attract a variety of birds, including hummingbirds, much to our great delight. The cottage is small, suitable for up to two people, but beautifully fitted, from the polished stone (marble?) worktop, to the luxury shower. We stayed for one month during a very hot spell so the fans were necessary during the daytime, with windows open. Night times were cooler, but the cottage temperature was just right. San Rafael town centre is within walking distance, with all amenities, including Safeway, only a ten minute walk away. The town is full of restaurants, many with live music and dancing every night, Hiking / nature watching is accessible everywhere. Eda is the perfect host. She responded to our needs and requests graciously and proved to be a fun companion, too! We absolutely loved our stay, would return and would recommend the cottage to friends and relatives.

Intimate Eclectic Romantic

5 of 5
Our Hostess Katy has thought of every detail that furnishes a comfortable stay, from the cushy sofas to the sleep all night mattress to the brand new stainless steel appliances. Color and texture surround providing a cozy, homey atmosphere. Katy is simply charming, having met us when we arrived to acquaint us and answer any questions. The neighborhood is safe and the residents are quiet. We had a lovely vacation.

Little Gem

5 of 5
We recently spent almost 2 weeks in the converted carriage house in Alameda. Our first grandchild is nearby, so it was a quick drive to our family's home nearby. First impressions proved correct as we found a wonderful breakfast for the next day waiting in the kitchen for us plus a bottle of wine if desired. The location is ideal. Owners John and Arthur are great sources of info on sites, eateries, and are more than accommodating for our every need. Crisp white linens and towels are always available. The bathroom is equipped for travelers if they need various toiletries. The place is spotless. The property is an oasis and is fascinating with antiques, botanical displays, lemon and apple trees, koi ponds and live canaries in large enclosures. Every effort was made to make us comfortable. We hope that next time this coming winter, we can take the time to get to know them better.
