AMAZING Getaway!!! Yes, it's Magical!

5 of 5
Oh my gosh, I don't even know where to begin! My husband and I and another couple stayed here for only 2 nights (wish we'd stayed longer) to celebrate my 40th birthday. My friend and I were running a 50K close by, so we found this lovely cottage that looked perfect for the 4 of us. The Cottage exceeded our expectations! As soon as we walked in, we fell in love. It is bright, clean, and comfortable. In January, it was decorated with winter themed pillows and other decorations, including twinkle lights outside. Now, that's personal! Amy communicated very well and really made us feel at home. The Cottage has so many personal touches to make you feel pampered. There was a welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived, the fire pit had wood AND newspaper in it ready to be lit, and the hot tub was ready to go! There were shampoo and soap dispensers in the bathrooms, plus hair dryers and plenty of towels. There were board games, books, foosball, ping pong, horseshoes, and many other games and activities to enjoy at your leisure. They thought of everything and didn't cut any corners on this place. The front porch was relaxing and the back porch was amazing! We spent both nights out in the hot tub (REALLY nice after that 50K) enjoying the sound of the waterfall and a croaking frog. The kitchen was well-appointed for the most part. My husband loves to cook, so he and my friend's husband cooked dinner for us both nights. The only thing they said they wish they had were a few basic spices, but I'm sure if we'd have just asked, Amy would have brought us what we needed (her house is right behind the cottage). They even used the grill for burgers one night. This is an old family home that has been completely remodeled beautifully, but they kept the charm and a few items from it's former glory, such as some artwork, a quilt, and an old telephone. Many of the photos on the wall were taken by Amy herself. The beds were comfortable and there were even robes for use in the closet! There were little signs and labels to tell a little bit about the history (and let us know where things were), which was really neat. We also didn't realize how close we were to the coast! Hwy. 1 is super close, so if you want to sightsee, it's a great place to be. We will definitely be back! This is a great getaway, and it is definitely better than any description or photos will show. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Amy! 5+ stars!

Forego Hotels for this Slice of Heaven!

5 of 5
We spent to perfect days in this peaceful, beautifully designed and appointed cottage. Tranquility greets you and yet everything you could possibly want or need for activity and entertainment is just a short stroll away. The owners were warm and welcoming and the neighborhood is gorgeous. Just a moment away is a great coffee shop and Star Grocery to fill your fridge with delights. We only wish we could take this cottage home with us...it was that adorable and perfect! It was my first time to Berkeley, but by no means now will it be my last and always my first hope will be to call this cottage my home away from home while I visit.

Relaxing Hideaway

5 of 5
The cottage is enclosed in the back yard of the owner's house. The hideaway feels safe and secluded and ideal for our pets to roam around in. There is a large oak tree, fruit trees and shrubs in the garden that attract a variety of birds, including hummingbirds, much to our great delight. The cottage is small, suitable for up to two people, but beautifully fitted, from the polished stone (marble?) worktop, to the luxury shower. We stayed for one month during a very hot spell so the fans were necessary during the daytime, with windows open. Night times were cooler, but the cottage temperature was just right. San Rafael town centre is within walking distance, with all amenities, including Safeway, only a ten minute walk away. The town is full of restaurants, many with live music and dancing every night, Hiking / nature watching is accessible everywhere. Eda is the perfect host. She responded to our needs and requests graciously and proved to be a fun companion, too! We absolutely loved our stay, would return and would recommend the cottage to friends and relatives.
