When we arrived (early), we had driven through Donner Pass chain controls, and the driveway was being cleared from about 2 feet of fresh snow. The location is excellent - about one mile from the 89 / Lake Tahoe intersection (groceries / banking), very close to Granlibakken, and about 15-20 minutes from Alpine Meadows. There is a little sledding hill at the end of the block, and the dogs in the neighborhood seem to see visitors as a social event - big sweet dogs.
The cabin appears to have been built as two two bedroom apartments, but is now separated, and a loft bedroom was added over the kitchen (accessible by ladder). The beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The game room worked out great for the kids, and the living room is very comfortable.
The down sides are that the kitchen appears a bit bigger in the photos, but even so, with the kitchen island, there is plenty of counter space (we were cooking for as many as 20 including visitors). Also, when we were there, the pump to the hot tub died, so we didn't get to sit in it under the snowy skies, but on the positive side, Herb, the owner, was very responsive, and he said that when he fixed it he ordered an extra pump so that the next time it happens he doesn't have to order one to repair it.
