BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS IN WINE COUNTRY

5 of 5
Perfect spot for celebrating three birthdays - my brothers' and mine - with our wives. As we arrived at property and turned down Balverne Lane, we were greeted by a mother deer and her two fawns - great reception and 1st impression! And all other impressions were just as memorable - from perfectly manicured landscaping to beautiful lake view from kitchen to leisurely stroll through vineyard (which makes you feel miles from civilization). House was plenty spacious with a variety of areas for lounging and relaxing, both inside and out. Location also very convenient for wine tastings, minutes from numerous Sonoma wineries. Trip to Napa slightly longer, but worth the drive across mountain divide - beautiful scenery! Balverne Manor a must stay for anyone spending time in the wine country. If my brothers and I return to Sonoma, we'll definitely book Balverne again!

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

4 of 5
The house was just right for our time in Santa Rosa. The kitchen was well-equipped. The beds were comfortable. The yard was lovely, and we enjoyed sitting out on the patio. It was clean and well-maintained. It is close to all the wonderful things to do in Sonoma County. We enjoyed our breakfast at the Piner Cafe, and did our grocery shopping at nearby Raleys - a lovely grocery/wine/beer/all-purpose store. We visited wineries [Bella and Truett-Hurst were both top-notch]. If you go, make sure to stop at the Dry Creek General Store and get sandwiches to take to Truett-Hurst and eat them in the Adirondack chairs that they provide along the lovely creek next to the winery, or you can eat them just outside the store on General Store patio with the great view of vineyards. If you to the general store, make sure to see the bar within the store. We had fun at the beach, Bodega Bay - clam chowder is delicious. The location of the house is in a quiet subdivision. I would highly recommend this property.
