We are so glad we had to find a place to stay for a few days before returning home. This retreat, high in the hills above Santa Rosa is a gem, and the owners are so warm and accommodating that you will feel almost like family. We loved waking to the sun coming up over the hills, with the fog pushing up the valley but never quite reaching us. At night, the showcase of stars is spectacular. Just up the road from the house is a park with easy hikes through the woods or a tougher one to the top of Hood Mountain for great views of the area. So removed and yet you are so close to Santa Rosa and the surrounding wine (and beer) country. Take time to visit Jack London State Park on the way to Sonoma. Historically interesting and great hiking.
