The cute little beach house was everything we expected... and more! We had stopped by before when others were staying there but didn't understand how cozy and comfortable it was until we stayed there ourselves. The cabin is small, but nothing seemed "tight" and everything is very efficiently laid out. The wonderful high wooden ceiling is probably a big part of why it feels so airy and cozy. We used and loved the fireplace (even though it is mid summer) and enjoyed the cable radio. The house appears to be well maintained and is nicely furnished and decorated. Access was easy and there were no problems.
The beach access is wonderful! On Saturday we walked down to the beach near the Del Mar a couple blocks to the east and found a wonderful uncrowded beach for sunning. On Sunday we walked just a short block to the west and found a smaller, but more stunning, sandy beach with some cliffs and rocks. We enjoyed watching the waves break and splash way up in the air and walking around (carefully) on the rocks to see how they are being warn away by the wave actions. I would like to spend more time here - maybe next time.
We had dinner at the Crow's Nest nearby at the harbor and it was fantastic. The view and ambiance was spectacular, the service perfect and the food delectable.
We definitely recommend this cute beach house to anyone, especially someone who enjoys a place with lots of history and charm. We found a book in the library showing pictures of how the beach has changed by showing pictures from 1800s and early 1900s with a picture taken from nearly the same spot today. You can see the arches that have come and gone plus there were some great pictures of fabulous earlier versions of the boardwalk. We hope to stay at Sharing Gates by the Sea again someday.
