The Santa Barbara Gem!!!

5 of 5
We have been staying in Santa Barbara for many years. We've stayed at some wonderful places but this is our favorite home. We are a retired couple on a fixed income and visit our daughter for 6 weeks each winter in Santa Barbara. It is tough to find one bedroom rentals in SB. The Upper East Side Gem was perfect for us. We also own vacation property which we rent through VRBO and we are very picky. So let me tell you what I loved: Warm, cozy comfortable living room Efficient kitchen with great cookware; no dishwasher, but this did not bother us Great bed and linens Large closet in bedroom with lots of storage Lavender liners in all drawers Roomy bathroom with nice tub and shower Great washer and dryer The best outdoor space in Santa Barbara!!! Any minor glitches are quickly responded to by a top flight property management company...Katie, Kaitlin, Samantha and Sheri are great to work with. The location is tops...close to the Mission where I went everyday and downtown. If you are a walker, you will enjoy this location. If you are too tired to walk home, hop in an Uber or Lyft car. We loved this apartment so much that we are returning next year for 6 weeks. I miss the sent of jasmine wafting over the patio patio each morning, , the sunrises, the sunsets, the blooming roses, and the wonderful magnolia trees that bloomed on our last day. We entertained friends a couple of times a week and the privacy of the patio was perfect. Helene and David have thought of everything and are the most gracious hosts we have encountered. I wish them all the best with this top flight vacation home and look forward to seeing them in February 2016. Jenny and Jim Olsztynski

Nice place, great location

5 of 5
My wife and I spent 3 weeks here in December and thought it was great. The apartment is down a narrow driveway and over a garage, but don't let that put you off - inside it is bright and cheery, with a nice balcony, good kitchen, and private use of a small courtyard with hot tub. And it is walking distance from several great Mexican places on Milpas Street, and a short drive or long walk (30 minutes) from downtown.

Lovely retreat, home away from home.

5 of 5
As quiet as one could get in Montecito. A great, safe feeling home away from home feeling. Proximity to all in Montecito and Santa Barbara was great. We had a great time and really felt remiss to have to leave and come back to a cold blast of -15F. Being in the area again after some 20yrs brought back lots of fond memories and we've contemplated making this an annual R&R. If only we could afford to buy a place out there!! Thanks much and hope we left it to your standards. Chris
