The perfect place for two people to stay in LA!

5 of 5
My goodness, I'm hesitant to write about this absolute gem tucked away on a beautiful hillside street in Studio City. Why? Because I want it to be available whenever we visit Los Angeles! Writing about this wonderful getaway is almost like writing a review of my husband so he'll be up for consideration by others. I don't want to share! But here goes, because the begrudging truth is that I actually do want others to enjoy this place as much as we did. My 17-year-old daughter and I enjoyed three nights and four days at this very conveniently located, beautiful little apartment/suite on the bottom floor of Lloyd and JoAnna's absolutely gorgeous tudor home. We were in Studio City during a visit of colleges and various acting classes and workshops my daughter had put together. We've been to Studio City several times, but never stayed at any accommodation like this. It was such a treat to stay in this impeccable, beautifully furnished studio, complete with little kitchen and resort-like bathroom! Two beds, too, should you like to sleep separately, which we do! (One is a couch, but quite comfortable when it pulls out to be a bed.) We saved so much money by cooking our own breakfast and lunch each day. The weather was perfect, and we'd often dine on the front patio/veranda, which overlooks the valley, but better yet, overlooks the beautiful grounds of this hillside mecca. It's SO peaceful compared with anywhere else we've stayed in the Valley. And the price is extremely reasonable. Trust me: You will not find anything of this value in Studio City. Even the cheapy little motel-like place just a half mile down Ventura Blvd is more expensive, and there you just get a not-great room. Never again! The only down side is that you probably won't want to leave. It's hard to go from the bucolic hill into the valley and the rest of the world and back home. And if you have the pleasure of meeting owners/hosts Lloyd and JoAnna, it makes it even harder. You'll feel like you're staying at your home away from home if they have anything to do with it. They're gracious, friendly, and fun. They give you privacy, but are there when you need them. And if you're lucky enough to be home when JoAnna, a (former?) professional pianist, from Canada, plays the grand/baby grand piano upstairs (which she did on an afternoon when we came back for lunch), you will be blown away by the music and her artistry. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Wonderful, home-like accommodations

5 of 5
The California Bungalow was a uniquely warm and inviting place to stay. From the updated decor to the special touches of including the little necessities like shampoo, a guest book (to leave comments for all who come behind you to see), to menus and information on places to visit in the area, Pamela has thought of everything. Tucked in a little niche of quiet residential homes, the California Bungalow gives you the feeling of "living in Los Angeles" like the natives. It is so much nicer than a hotel where every room is a carbon copy of another, and you can hear every neighbor as if they were in the room with you. I highly recommend the California Bungalow for a comfortable, relaxing place to stay if you really want to capture the feel of "living" in Los Angeles. Thank you Pamela for making the trip so special.
