Perfect Place For a Big Group

5 of 5
This place is great. We rented this house for a few days in late October & early November to accomodate guests for our wedding, which took place in the Ranch house next door. The house was great, and Bob, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. He took great care of us. The property is wonderful, and well-maintained, with spectacular views and great outdoor seating to take it all in. We were gathered nightly by the propane fire pits, doing everything from tarot card readings to pondering life, death and quantum physics. One would think (and we did) that this place was in the middle of nowhere, but it really isn’t. You’re only about a mile from groceries, restaurants and whatnot. It was close to Legoland and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (not the main zoo near downtown). Some of the crew, including my in-laws and parents went to nearby Temecula to visit the vineyards and had a blast. Nothing in San Diego county is centrally-located per se, but if you’re looking to visit different places in Southern California I can’t picture a more perfect place to come home to at the end of the day. An hour and half from Disneyland, 45 mins from San Diego Airport and Gaslamp, maybe half an hour to La Jolla. When our time at the house was over, my new wife and I took a few days and traveled up the highway one to Monterey and then finished the last week of our vacation in various hotels in San Diego. We stayed in some pretty nice hotels but all we kept thinking was how much we missed Bob’s property. I didn’t spend nearly enough time in this house, which is upsetting because it’s a really cool place. I recommend it highly, especially if kids will be in tow, because Bob and his wife have done a lot to make sure kids are accomodated and safe. I loved playing the piano in the few scattered moments I got when I wasn’t rushing around doing wedding related things. Also, the master bedroom is absolutely phenomenal! About half of our guests had never been to California, and some were skeptical of what all the fuss was about, but by the end of the trip, everyone said the had the time of their lives, and were blown away by how nice the two houses were, how picturesque SoCal is and how accomodating and friendly Bob was. We’ll be back for sure. - Zach

Annual Get Away Tucked in the Hills of San Marcos

5 of 5
This is our family "go to" spot! Every year, for the past 6 years, our family and friends of the family have ventured to this remote ranch. in total, we are a party of 8-16 during any given point of the trip. We love the accommodations because they match what we are accustomed to at our own home. The property is sprawling with Avocado trees and other fruit trees; Pool and Jacuzzi; Horses and stable; and a super inviting fire pit and deck furniture. We usually start our mornings with breakfast made in a spacious kitchen and then congregate on the deck to eat in the morning sunshine. From there, some hit the pool, others arrange horseback rides, and some even head into the neighboring town or beach cities to take in the local activities. After the day's activities, it's back to the ranch for bbq dinner and drinks on the deck, enjoying the beautiful sunset. The day would night be complete without roasted marsh mellows over the fire under the moonlit sky. Next day....repeat! Next day....repeat! can't wait til next year!

Our family have spent the last couple of years traveling to a warm destination to break up the winter months. We are 11 in total so look for a home that is roomy enough to accommodate my husband, myself, our 4 sons and their families comfortably and affordably. We look for locations that have a lot to do in close proximity. We found this at the Temecula Wine Country Estate #1. We were VERY pleased – it had everything we were looking for!! The description of the home on the website was very accurate. The bedrooms are very roomy with very comfortable beds in the room as well as playpens and inflatable mattresses to easily accomodate everyone. We have two 3 year olds and a 2 year old in our group and had no problems accommodating their varied nap times as the home is quite sound proof room to room. The large kitchen/family room had something for everyone- and we had access to it all. The kitchen is fully stocked with any thing you could possibly need to prepare a family meal – so nice not to have to go out to eat with such a large group. The outdoor area has spectacular views, is a huge area that is private and again had something for everyone. We barbecued, picked fresh oranges, swam, sat in the hot tub and even sat out at night in front of the fireplace watching a movie on the outdoor television. There is a very secure child-proof fence around the pool and hot tub so the kids could go out and play safely. As a runner I am looking for a safe place to run- it was right outside the gate of the estate. There is a great playground within walking distance. We did a couple of day trips to San Diego – easy to access the interstate highway and get to where we needed to be; Temecula has everything we could possibly need locally for stores. As well as numerous wineries close by - 7 minutes away at the South Coast Winery there is a wonderful spa. Our hosts couldn’t have been better to us – meeting us the minute we arrived and being accessible by phone with any of our needs both before arriving and during our stay. We really felt like we were at home and will DEFINITELY recommend this place to others!
