Large, comfortable, quiet and refined – this house offers exceptional value for the traveler who wants to enjoy the bustle of the beach during the day, but have some peace at night. Although only a very short drive from the beach, you cross into a different world: an affluent, clean, safe and spacious neighborhood up the hill from one of San Clemente’s shopping centers.
The house itself is beautifully appointed with everything the guest may need, including boogie boards and beach toys. The kitchen is large, the outdoors seating area pleasant, and the furniture upscale. A nice touch is the fact that everything is helpfully labeled.
Excellent internet connection is provided through fast WiFi. To get an even faster connection for your laptop, bring an Ethernet cable and connect directly to the router.
The owner is a pleasure to work with. He is always responsive, and makes the guest feel welcome in his house without being intrusive. Moreover, he really pays attention to details, as is evident by the artwork on the walls, the quality of the furniture, and even the fact that soap and small bottles of shampoo and conditioner are provided in each of the bathrooms.
San Clemente’s pier with its gnarly shortboard wave is only 7 minutes away by car. The big, yet well mannered waves of San Onofre – arguably the best longboard break in the world – are only 12 minutes away; you can park right on the beach, next the restroom and the showers. The very south end of the surfing beach, known as “Dog Patch” is dedicated to SUPs (Stand Up Paddleboards).
On days of a good south swell, or when everywhere else becomes too big and wild, head over to Doheny at Dana Point, about 20 minutes away, for endless fun.
In summary: if you like noisy, crowded, small and overpriced: find a place right on the beach. This house is for people who want to enjoy the beach during the day, but want to escape to a quiet haven at bedtime.
