The Villa Sophia was a truly remarkable experience

5 of 5
Amazing! With its Mediterranean Revival style 1920’s design, sunbathed and secluded pool, and picturesque expansive views, The Villa Sophia was a truly remarkable experience that feels like old Hollywood meets classic St. Tropez. Even the photographs—which show how beautiful the home is—can’t truly prepare you for how amazing your stay will be. You really feel like a celebrity enjoying a long weekend at your private chateau…relaxing…warm…beautiful…exclusive. Once you step inside the poolhouse, which is where you will be staying/sleeping, you immediately feel as though you’ve entered a spa. Clean, well-designed and spacious. Not to mention it has an actual, huge spa-like shower area. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room itself is very quiet, making it the perfect setting to get relaxing sleep. And then...there are few better ways to wake up in the morning than to the slow sunrise peeking up through the floor-to-ceiling windows (with curtains) that make up an entire side of the poolhouse overlooking the pool and city skyline. To top it all off, Tim (and Sophia!) were incredible hosts. Friendly, helpful and respectful. We got to chat with Tim for a bit and really enjoyed the conversation. If you have the chance, have him tell you the history of the house (which was built in the ‘20s) as well as the pool/poolhouse (which he had constructed in the early 2000s). Beyond the home itself, which truly is incredible, The Villa Sophia is located in a really great area. In the hills of Los Feliz (beautiful neighborhood), just next to the famed Hollywood Hills, you are within walking distance to great bars and restaurants (in Los Feliz), as well as great hiking and running trails (Griffith Park). In fact, I’d suggest it is a must do to hike up to the Griffith Observatory, both for the hike itself as well as the beautiful views once at the observatory. Long story short, it’s the type of place you never want to leave but when you do, you immediately want to show the photos to everyone you know. Highly, highly, highly recommended. Thanks Tim and Sophia! My wife and I had an amazing visit. We definitely hope to stay again.

The perfect beach vacation

5 of 5
So sad to be back to reality after staying in this awesome house! We've stayed in Oceanside before and had a good experience but this home is far larger, cleaner, and in much better condition than the last we rented. The grassy backyard was a huge plus for those times we just wanted to sit and watch the waves before dinner without going on to the sand and the location could not have been better. Would definitely recommend.

Great Family Rental! Everything you could ask for is already there!

5 of 5
Anything you could ever want, they have provided! We came all the way from Missouri to have a great California Spring Break. It exceeded our expectations. We were worried about not having chairs, toys, etc. Not to worry, they have everything you need, in the garage ready to take to the beach. We had family from California meet us there and had a great family reunion. We had a total of six kids and 4 adults. Plenty of room for all of us. There are lots of games and fun activities, including a foosball table and ping pong table. There were bikes, skateboards, basketball, soccer, volleyballs provides. The kitchen was big and roomy, with everything you would ever need. We had two moms, one cooking a vegetarian meal on one side of the kitchen, and us carnivores on the other side and we didn't drive each other crazy. There is a Walmart Neighborhood market close and also a Traders Joe's close. There is also a farmers market a couple times per week over on Main Street area, which is only a couple blocks away. We bought strawberries there that were to die for! We walked to the beach everyday. It was probably about three blocks away. Main Street had tons of shopping and lots of great restaurants. And the house was far enough away from the crowds that we couldn't hear them. The only thing that I would say is that the house does not have air conditioning. We left the windows open at night, and tried to keep the windows closed during the day. There is a fan in every room for your convenience. It got a little toasty though during the day. Altogether, we had a fabulous time and would go back in a heartbeat. My kids keep saying they miss California!
