Best little secret in Venice!

5 of 5
The elusive weekend getaway. Tough to decide where to go and how to spend it sometimes when you're planning it for a weekend away... but not really away. I am a Los Angeles resident and grew up in Santa Monica and Venice area. My GF has never really experienced the wonderful westside as I did growing up, so I thought of it kind to share, and also soak up in some nostalgia. The location of this property was perfect. At the beginning of Abbot Kinney where there are tons of boutique shops and restaurants, and also bordering the world famous Venice Boardwalk and beach. The placement of this unit is what made me decide to book this property for a weekend get away with the GF. I didn't expect much, because I know this city very well and most of where I have stayed of visited have been older built homes and apartments that usually have what we call "character" imperfections. To my surprise it was very well kept. Everything worked and reminded me of what life is like in a beach community. Not much is needed other than the essentials. Bed, bathroom, shower, fridge, and of course the morning coffee! We didn't spend an immense period of time here, because... well... so many things to do in the area. Abbot Kinney, Boardwalk, beach, Santa Monica Main St. all within walking distance. Bikes are provided, but we never had a chance to use them due to the abundant amount of entertainment resources within walking distance. Great little getaway bungalow for a great price!

Efficient, labeled, and thoughtful Studio!

5 of 5
This studio is attached to the owners home, but it is very private with your own entrance, entrance gate, parking spot, little outdoor patio, and bathroom. As other reviewers have noted, it's a very efficient use of space, with a murphy bed (cool!) and a small kitchen that would be at home in a single handed round-the-world sail boat. It was perfect for me as I spent only my sleeping hours in the studio, but it would be suitable for a couple and I was sorry I couldn't sit on the patio to enjoy my coffee (it was raining). The owner has carefully labeled every light switch, heating control, and kitchen container, and he's thoughtfully provided tea and coffee. I arrived late at night in the rain, and I was very pleased to find that the owner had provided a motion sensor flashlight that I could use to access the lockbox. Nicely done. The quiet, suburban neighborhood is at the western end of the ojai valley, and it was a short 8 minute drive to downtown and the bike path is very accessible. Booking and arriving was smooth - and the only thing I would have liked to see is the mobile hospitality app from HomeAway fully filled out.

Sophisticated bachelor pad, upscale amenities/high tech

4 of 5
Property was comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Great location. Very clean except for soapdish in bathroom. All communication with owner was smooth and easy. Only downsides are that it is NOISY - a foghorn goes off outside all night long and since apartment is on 3rd floor and I guess thin windows I could hear it through my earplugs. Also, it's a loft style and not all the windows have shades so again, being so close to streets means a lot of light comes in at night. Except for the noise trying to sleep, a great experience!
