A sure thing!

4 of 5
This hidden gem is perfect for a woman travelling solo. I felt very safe in this area, and in the unit as the fence is automatically locked. You are very much hidden from passerbyers on the street, and did not feel exposed or vulnerable at all. I decided at the last minute not to rent a car, so I can't speak on the parking but I definitely didn't need one. I read some previous reviews about traffic noise and homeless people, but I didn't get anything unusual or extreme, and the street people are actually quite nice and non threatening. It was pretty quiet in the evenings. I took advantage of the cafes and little watering holes and restaurants along the street, there is a pharmacy nearby, within walking distance to Whole Foods which has a deli/buffet for hot meals, and I can't even say enough, how much I enjoyed the mexican food truck across the street. The bed is comfy is you like a firm bed, and the TV is on a pivot which gives you the option to watch from the bed or the living area ( though satellite signal is intermittent- bring a book if you are staying in) There are two older beach bikes available, just make sure to check them before you leave. If you have any issues, the bike rental places along the beach are super nice to offer to help. These bikes were the highlight of my trip as the number of expansive bike lanes and trails gave me the best of what this area offered. You can also rent them cheap along the beach. If you want to go on any Hollywood tours, they pick you up and drop you off at the Cadillac Hotel near by on the beach. The property manager was excellent, quick in responses and on point with the whole process, as well as making himself available. It was comforting as a tourist to know you have a lifeline! I've been all over the world, and Venice beach was one of my best vacations in part to this lovely property. I hope to return again.

A winter get-away

5 of 5
Wanting to escape frigid Colorado over the holidays we chose Del Mar because of it's proximity to San Diego where our son lives and having, at the same time, access to a quieter coastal community. The previous reviews for this guest studio are quite thorough and accurate so there isn't much I can elaborate on regarding the amenities. However, I would like to reiterate what other guests have said regarding how accommodating and friendly Adam is as a host. He was very welcoming when I arrived ahead of my husband, and throughout our stay, if we saw him, would want to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. There were a few times when something needed attention (the wi-fi for example) and we always received an immediate response to text messages or phone calls. He is also a wealth of information regarding activities, dining, shopping, etc. I was especially appreciative of the invitation he extended to join his family and friends for New Year's Eve. The rooftop patio is really lovely. It's perfect for watching the sunset over Torrey Pines and for sitting by the gas fireplace at night. Pick a day with gorgeous weather to make the extended hike up and through the park and then down to the beach. The views are unforgettable. I would highly recommend this VRBO for a stay of a week or two.

Look no further - this place rocks!

My daughter and I stayed at Len's wonderful guest house for three nights as part of a week vacation for her 20th birthday. Len is the ultimate host - providing information and hospitality. The guest house is very comfortable like a home away from home. The BIG plus - access to a washer and dryer - always welcome when traveling! Great hot tub, private patio that's a nighttime paradise, complete with table, chairs, settee, twinkle lights in the trees and a gas heater. Having a kitchen saved me $$ as we cooked in for breakfast and dinner one night. The location is very convenient to see the area and easy access into LA for sightseeing. I highly recommend this guest house! Looking forward to a return trip in my future.
