Beautiful Home

5 of 5
We lucked into this house when another home was booked. It is newly renovated and in incredible condition with high-end mid-century modern furnishings and a great deck. I also really liked the neighborhood -- it was diverse, safe, and walkable. We enjoyed walking to Starbucks every morning and hiking in the Cabrillo National Monument. The zoo and downtown were both very close by car and Ocean Beach was just a few minutes away. We were a party of 9 and while we fit in the house reasonably well, one of the kids had to sleep on a daybed that wasn't terribly comfortable. That said, it is worth renting the house just to look at the furniture -- it is definitely not your typical stuff from Pottery Barn. The only downside is that it is all so new and gorgeous that we had to be exceedingly careful with the kids. Luckily, we could just send them out to the deck to look at the ships in the harbor, or down in the garden to pick lemons, and everyone was happy. We'll come back asap!

Be treated like Royalty at the 'Castle'!

5 of 5
The Castle was clean& organized and well equipped. The owner, Frank lives next door and left a welcome basket with some snacks& wine, took us out on a boat ride with a lovely assortment of snacks& drinks. He also got us guest passes to the yacht club next door where we had lunch one afternoon. He offered use of his beach and we could have had a beachside fire but we ran out of time. He also gave us privacy, if you didn't want to do any of the mentioned activities you didn't have to. He always called before he came and rang the doorbell! The area around the castle is beautiful with a walking path and beautiful views! We made use of the rear deck to sit and have coffee & enjoy the fresh air!

A Lovely Location & Property

5 of 5
Rented over long period to 30NOV2014- normal issues that come up addressed right away & professionally- day to day maintenance of wear&tear. Really a lovely property with lovely owners. We liked it for the 2 of us bUT nice for a family with small to teens as heated pool is a draw but never noisy. Location to walking distance good restaurants&Shelter Island bay front great fun.
