Best Place I Have Stayed in Bay Area

5 of 5
Steve and Ellen's guest house is beautiful. Everything is new and pristine. The house is up on a wooded hill, with terrific views of the bay. I heard owls hooing in the evening and early morning, and sometimes you see deer. It is very quiet. BIG windows, so even though the area is wooded, the place has tons of light. Steve is a sorta tech wizard, so the house is rigged not just with powerful wifi, but wall outlets with USB chargers, and even computer-to-speaker in house. This was a work trip to me, so having all this gadgetry at my fingertips was important. Basic stuff -- dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, range, oven -- is all brand new and, not surprisingly, worked perfectly. The place feels rural but, in fact, it is about 5 minutes from the town of Ladera, which has a great little mall. Bianchini's supermarket is pricey but excellent, and there are restaurants and a cafe there (among other things). The place is about 5-10min from one of the main highways, Route 280, so it is a pretty easy zip from there to Palo Alto, Menlo Park, or even San Fran or San Jose. I worked at Stanford while there, and it usually took me about 10 min, maybe 15-20 during rush hour. We rented a car, which is probably a good idea for that area, and if you look hard enough, you can usually find a deal for $30/day or less (total). Which, if you take two rides, is probably cheaper than the next best alternative, which would be to use Uber rides, which are all over the place there. I have been to that area a lot, and it is by far my favorite place to stay. It will definitely be the first place I look for, when I return.

Excellent!

5 of 5
Hollie and Bill are awesome. They made us feel like we are home. My family visited from London to attend my wedding. It was the best option for us to let everyone stay at one place and do the family ceremony at the house. The house is clean, organized and spacious. Hollie went through all the details with us, and even she asked about the kid’s age, so she can put the appropriate toys out for them. Thank you Hollie and Bill for your help, and for making our stay extra special.

Great place to stay for a business trip

5 of 5
The home is wonderful! It looks just like the pictures. You immediately feel and home. It has a gourmet kitchen where we cooked breakfast every morning. So nice to wake up in the peaceful surroundings and then have a place to have breakfast without having to get in the car. Quick access to San Francisco and to Menlo Park. The owner is very nice and follow through is terrific. We have been to Silicon Valley a couple of times and were so disappointed with the available hotels and motels and the price they expected for the dark and old outdated, single room places to stay. We went to VRBO and found this home and enjoyed our stay a great deal. We will be back.
