Truly exceptional hosts, house, and yard

5 of 5
Hollie and Bill were fantastic hosts and their house is exceptional. We stayed here for just under a month during a "working vacation": I worked while my family vacationed. We have done this twice before and this was definitely the best place we've found to stay. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The house is nice and large, a roomy four bedrooms. This worked well for us since we have three children and had guests come to stay with us as well. The master suite is luxurious. Hollie & Bill left everything sparkling clean, very tidy and well organized with little labels to tell us (for example) which sheets went with which bed. Such a large and comfortable house is unusual in Silicon Valley in my experience; the other thing that really makes this place stand apart is the yard. Back home our house sits on over two acres and we always struggle in California to find a place where the kids won't feel hemmed in. The kids played on the play structure, swung on the big tree swing, and filled the large backyard driveway with sidewalk chalk. There are multiple picnic tables and an nice outdoor kitchen and a shed full of bikes that our hosts graciously let us borrow - much to the delight of our kids who had just all learned to ride. We picked avocados and lemons from the trees in the yard and generally enjoyed being outside in the great South Bay weather. The neighborhood is nice, quiet, and a bit older with lots of big mature trees. We didn't get to know any neighbors while we were there, but it seemed like a pleasant place. The house is a short walk or shorter bike ride to the San Antonio Caltrain Station, and convenient to El Camino Real with all the shopping you need and lots of great restaurants. The nearby "Chef Chu's" is some of the best Chinese food in the Valley, by the way. Hollie and Bill were responsive, helpful, and thoughtful hosts - all while they were a continent away. They prepared carefully for our visit and were very generous with their bikes, many kid toys in the garage, etc. Overall I can't say enough nice things about our visit. I would particularly recommend this place to a family with multiple kids, especially if they are under 10 or so. Thanks Hollie and Bill for having us!

Relaxing Retreat in Lovely Area

5 of 5
Our family (2 couples, 1 baby) stayed in this great home for 5 nights in July. It truly is set up as a home away from home, with many amenities not provided in your typical rental property (even a box of baby supplies!). We especially enjoyed the bright and sunny kitchen, with a great layout for multiple cooks and a huge window overlooking the beautiful patio area. We also enjoyed the TV room, and enjoyed good Wifi and TV service. I was a bit concerned (based on the listing photos) that the bathrooms would be small and really outdated but we found them to be fine, with good lighting and plenty of storage areas for our personal toiletries. The patio and pool area are just absolutely lovely and, being from an arid state, we so enjoyed all of the beautiful plants, trees and potted succulents. We also got a kick out of picking fresh rosemary and lemons to use when fixing a fish dinner. The location is also great, with plenty of interesting restaurants in the area, and very close to parks and the Sunset Magazine gardens. We would be more than happy to stay in this homey property the next time we want to relax with our extended family.

Incredible homeowners, and home !

5 of 5
We achieved a great family get-to-together, however, only because of this stoic house full of charm, and love. We greatly appreciated the perfect fit this was for our weekend. Not only did the kids have a blast with the trampoline, wall, and playing in garden --- we enjoyed the kitchen, where we made dinner and even grilled and watched sunset and sunrise :) Last, but not least Katie was kind and considerate to give us a preliminary reservation while we were still in planning stage! I am so thankful my dad could meet his long lost children, and appreciate the thoughfulness-- we felt so loved! Thaaank you..
