Lovely getaway in the Lost Coast

5 of 5
We were pleasantly surprised by Bernie's round house, particularly by the beautiful ocean view. The house is very inviting, light, and comfortable. We loved having a washer and dryer (fear of poison oak from hiking) and the DVD player for late night movie watching was an added plus. In all of our interactions with Bernie, she was very accommodating and friendly. We went to Shelter Cove to take advantage of hiking in the Lost Coast without the camping, and it was an absolutely perfect experience. The Lost Coast is spectacular! We hiked in higher areas where the sun was shining during the day, and by the time we returned to Bernie's in the late afternoon the fog had cleared every day! The Black Sand Beach was also the perfect landing place for post-hiking picnics and gentle strolls. If you're thinking of going, you'll be so happy you did!

a cozy cottage with BREATHTAKING views of the Pacific Ocean

5 of 5
The pictures you see on the website don't do this property justice. In fact, I became very frustrated with my own pictures-- because I could never quite capture the the amazing views my eyes were taking in. This property is a true find if you want solitude, privacy, and ownership of the Pacific. Perched high on a bluff overlooking a rocky beach, the views from the living room are 180 degrees. The house itself (2 bedroom, 1 bathroom) is nothing terribly modern or spacious, but it didn't matter, because my wife and I never wanted to leave the main room with the big picture windows. Fortunately, there is a full size futon in front of those windows, and a gas fireplace directly to the right. Nothing compared to sleeping to the stars at night and waking up to the vastness of water in front of us. Again, don't expect a modern house. This cottage was probably built in the 50's, and the bathroom fixtures (pedestal sink and claw foot tub with curtains) are era appropriate. But it does come with expanded cable tv and HBO, a spacious, open kitchen... and memories of relaxation to last a lifetime. One word of caution: as this property is off an unpaved road, I would not recommend driving a low-suspension vehicle up to the house. The road has a few potholes and a raised center in some areas that could scrape the bottom of subcompacts and sports cars.

Live in paradise

5 of 5
I am a traveling physical therapist and had the opportunity to live in a private oasis. If you ar looking for a privately gated park setting, on a majestic lake, explore some of the best vineyards and an artistic community - this is the place! Andrew and Lynn created a beautiful living space with well appointed furnishings, linens and culinary supplies for your experience. There is even a fire pit for your evening to be spent in great conversation or listening to your favorite music. Enjoy a dock for a boat, canoe to borrow, or simply bask in the sun with a lawn chair and your favorite book. Thank you for making my stay the most memorable one!
