Ideal place for Newport Beach stay

5 of 5
Wow, what a great place to stay! Super convenient location, walking distance to grocery store, restaurants, and most importantly the beach! Less than 5 min and you are on the sand. The house itself is very nicely appointed - with 3 of us it was plenty roomy. Beds were very comfortable and excellent breezy airflow made things just right even during a heat wave. Very functional kitchen, we made several meals and my wife even baked cookies. Also, a lot of nice extras here, such as the front patio with grill, bicycles, beach chairs and a well-appointed bathroom with ample towels. If you are coming to this area of Newport Beach, be aware that parking can be tough, especially on the weekends. Thankfully, a one-car garage is provided, that makes life much more bearable. But hey, down here why are you driving? Just walk a few blocks and sit out on the sand! Gloria, the owner and the host manager Linda were extremely gracious and helpful. Our 3 year old had a blast, too.. I would highly recommend this to any party of say 4, (maybe 5) or fewer. My Newport Beach recommendations - 1) The Beach!! - 2) Rent a bike or skate the boardwalk path - 3) Alta Coffee house, a quick walk and 4) Bear Flag Fish company, also a quick walk away. Oh yeah and one more - Sancho's tacos for a great breakfast burrito..

Awesome:

This is the place to stay. Close to the beach and major roadways. Yet far enough away from the beach crazyness. Quiet residential area.. The view is outstanding. We watched the sunset over the Pacific from the deck (very cool).. There is nothing blocking your view. There is a park in front of the condo. We biked to the beach a few times to both Newport and Balboa piers with a breakfast stop at Charlie's Chilli...by the Newport Beach Pier..... Excellent Nash Petunia!

Balboa Island Beach Cottage – 4th of July Getaway

5 of 5
Steve made the booking process easy & hassle free- seeing how we were visiting for the 4th of July- one of the most fun, but busiest times of the year- but we only had a few days to spend on Balboa Island (although we would have loved to stay longer)- he worked with us on our dates so we could avoid staying in a hotel. He was also very quick to respond with any questions we had from start to the end. We were also very impressed with how kind the owner Garry was! Sometimes when you hear the owner lives near-by, you’re not sure what to expect, but we hardly saw him outside of when he was helping or offering to let us borrow beach equipment, or anything else we needed! The day we arrived, he was waiting for us just so he could give us his parking spot- parking is very limited all over the island - which is to be expected, especially considering the time of year we came so this was an amazingly kind & thoughtful thing for him to do. I could go on & on about how nice he is but then I wouldn’t be able to share all the amenities & activities there are! The beach house is very quaint, clean, and comfortable- perfect for our family of 4. It’s only a 30 second walk to the bay/sand where Garry has kayaks available to use if you’d like- you can also rent paddle boards, which is another great way to explore the bay. We enjoyed our ‘many’ strolls on the boardwalk- just admiring all the well-kept custom homes & beautiful yachts. We kept our car parked the entire time & explored the island via beach cruisers – which can also be brought right on the ferry so you can explore the beach side – all within minutes. With all the walking & bike riding we did, I never felt guilty trying a variety of Balboa Bars & chocolate dipped bananas! My favorite was the Balboa Bar with everything on it! Yummy!! There are some cute shops at reasonable prices, all within walking/bike riding distance from the cottage. We ate out at Village Inn one night- (great food & a decent ambiance), but most of the time, we just cooked & bbq’d right at the cottage. We went 4th of July weekend, so although it was a bit busy, I must say.. the island had the BEST fireworks display we can recall seeing!
